Killington opens tomorrow

Beautiful day at Stowe today - even with sun, it stayed pretty cold. It should stay good through the weekend.

I'm not sure whether or not there is an inversion around SLC in January every year, but I know this discussion happens here each January.

Note that the claimed Blue Mt vertical is 1087' (and they had to add a long runout and essentially dig a hole to get that). It's their summit that's at 1407'. Elk is definitely the best of a weak crop of choices in Eastern PA.

We live in PA and our kids do not get a full week out of school for President's week or Spring Break/Easter. I think our kids get 3 days off at Easter this year. An additional problem is that we do not have days set aside for snow days, so when such events happen, President's Day (now gone...

I've taken 3-ish flights a season for 15 years with ski equipment and have never had an issue. <knocking on all the wood I can find not to jinx myself> In recent years I've changed to carrying on the boots, partially because I worried more that they arrived safely - but mostly because I'm too...

As long as you understand this, it's not difficult to ski Hunter on weekends without lines. Ski the six pack from 8:30 until 10. Then ski D, F and/or Z (west side) - at least 2 of those usually have no line.

We payed much more than Jason for the lodging, although there were 4 of us. I assumed the prices were jacked up at least somewhat for Christmas/New Years week. We went to several of the well known/higher priced on mountain restaurants. I'm sure we could have eaten cheaper, but we were happy...

We had a great time in Zermatt over 8 days of skiing. A few inches of snow our first day of skiing (12/27) seemed to help conditions out a bit. I could have used more, but a bunch of nice sunny days probably worked out better with the family. We only encountered a lift line on 1 of the days...

For the record, this is my first trip to the continent. ;-)
