Skied SN yesterday under clear conditions with no wind. The ski area's web page reports over 50 inches of new snow from the last storm. Skiing was great with packed powder and tracked up powder but the winds did a number on the upper mountain steeps exposing the vast amount of rock ledges...

Has been been 21 days since the last day with mid winter snow ( packed powder , powder or tracked up powder ) . The last three weeks have been constant rain or a deep freeze with no new snow. Current snow pack now between 1 to 2 feet depending on where you take your measurements down...

KH is starting to become my home western mountain . If you are skiing the bowls on skier's left, ski down the far left in the old whitetooth area ( the original hill) and you will find great ungroomed terrain. Great place to go when visibility is poor. Chair in this area only runs on the weekend.

Warm weak is a understatement as eastern snowpack in free fall due to a February heat wave. Close to two feet of snow lost this week with high temps in the forecast tomorrow before a cool down Saturday night.

Good snow conditions today but temps warmed up above freezing and snow in the direct sunlight started to convert from powder into sticky snow. No doubt will be the same in all eastern regions as a warm week in the forecast.

The eastern report mentions the rain and this cannot be dismissed as despite above average snow ,the temps have been way above average with almost weekly rain/thaw episodes then a freeze up. Just last week a good layer of ice coated the landscape. Next warm up is scheduled to roll in by Sunday...

Time for a update ,well into winter and significant new snow this week . Over a foot received and a few more inches in the forecast with no rain or freezing rain. Snowpack at 1600 feet in elevation at 100 cm (just over 3 feet ).

Raising three kids as eastern skiers results in them moving away in search of steeper lines to ski. Oldest one is a resident of Golden BC. Just the youngest at home with his Jay Peak College pass.

Epic pow day at KH today as over a foot of snow today easy. Powder run after powder run all day long. Not much else to say. Making the long trip home tomorrow with more snow and road closures. Overall 9 days of skiing and all fine as a " Born from Ice " eastern skier.
