    Western North America Conditions 2025/26

Jackson was on suicide watch for a good portion of the winter…but in mid February it was hero (not blower) powder with full charging through tower three, riverton, Alta chutes etc. IIRC Alta 1 opened for the first time this year during that Feb spell. I was lucky enough to hike Cody as well...

    Worldskitraveller's USA Road Trip

Lift collectors TOP in state/providence itinerary - conditions permitting Plunge (T-ride) KT-22 (SVU) John Paul Jones (Snowbasin) Sublett (JH) Peak or showcase (WB) Golden Eagle (KH)... other contenders include Stoke and the sleeper Goat's Eye Zephyr (NY) 4runner (VT) Gant (Zermatt) Celo Alto...

Spring 2026 in Utah Cottonwood Canyons

Many on this forum might have already skied this line, but for those who have not, I give two enthusiastic thumbs up. It can be accessed by a 25-45 minute boot pack to looker right when exiting gad 2; the ridge line is a relatively easy hike with minimal exposure and the line itself is likely 2x...

Spring 2026 in Utah Cottonwood Canyons

Yes multitasking so I botched the aspect 🤗. What does the naming mean about the providence of the Baldy name in general? Since here it is possessive, does that mean Baldy was a Mormon pioneer or miner, rather than a generic name given to an alpine peak?

Zermatt Snow 2025/26: Rote Nase Cable Car Policy & Hohtälli Zone

I don’t know the numbers, but this is the “steep tree” zone I’m referring to.

Spring 2026 in Utah Cottonwood Canyons

Saturday - all about aspect. North facing had chalky turns. Frankly skied much like Zermatt, that is gripping hardpack most everywhere else 5/10. Sunday - hiked the rarely open Gad 2 baldy bowl gate. Summited red stack then skied “Liam’s”? Couloir back into the bowl and on to little cloud...

Forecasted totals have been dropping but are conditions still good enough to justify 8 hrs round trip in the air for a 4 day weekend?

How does wePowder compare to opensnow for forecast accuracy?

OpenSnow Data: Inflated Forecasts and Incorrect Actuals (24 Hour & History)

Largely agree with this take. I DO subscribe to opensnow... but have a serious love hate relationship with it. It's as much an anxiety provoking (FOMO) dopamine dealer as it is a useful planning tool. I've basically resigned myself to checking local weather stations and sucking up last minute...

Zermatt Snow 2025/26: Rote Nase Cable Car Policy & Hohtälli Zone

Jet-lagged atm so my writing and recollection might be blurry... Sunday arrival - rental suffered a flat crossing Simplon pass so did not have time to ski Monday - snow showers with good to very good lines on the north facing terrain leading into the lower Patrullarve lift on Rothorn. Short...

Zermatt Snow 2025/26: Rote Nase Cable Car Policy & Hohtälli Zone

Sadly, we did not get to Verbier. Skied 4 days in Zermatt with great fun in the Hohtalli zone and one day skinning the Breithorn/descent into Cervinia. Finished with two days at Grands Montets. I loved the place. No tram = untracked lines for those willing to skin. I skinned up to the petit...

Finally: AntiTrust Lawsuit Against Vail and Alterra Day Pass Price Collusion.

Can I reliably pencil in 14% YOY returns? Hope so!!! As for passes, day skiers have been seriously hurt, but those who ski 7 days or more now have significantly more choice and "value." The duopoly is certainly a mixed bag, but is it illegal?
