Mobil Ski-3 for 2004/5 Season

What Geoff said, hang on to the receipts. I have had few Mobil stations turn down receipts from other stations usually busy fuel stops off of I-91 in VT. The local Mobil stations in the flat lands seem to be happy some one wants to redeem for the coupon. Late in the season I will frquently...

note of interest regarding the might K

I like Killington. The marketing hype, the vibe, the access roads parties have a tremendous pull and keep a lot of people away from mountains I ski on a more regular basis. I freely admit to skiing Killington four or five times a year and usually enjoy it. Good terrain, a few secrets and a...

    Mobil Ski-3 for 2004/5 Season

Earlier this week I passed a Mobil gas station and saw that discount ski coupons are available for $15 off a lift ticket price. Does any one know if this discount will be for ASC resorts or a different option? A google search yielded old data.

What is your favorite "Classic Narrow Eastern Trail&quo

Lots of classic narrow tarils have been mentioned above. I would add Broomstick and Slide of Hans at Magic Mtn to the list.

    Ski Area Wish List

My new area list is modest: If there is decent snow in Southern New England: Bershire East I've skied there a few times beofre but always managed to hit poor snow: Smugglers Notch The big stretch would be to hit Quebec outside the Eastern Townships: Le Massif Mt St Anne

    Okemo, VT 3/28

Wow 3/28 had to have been a spring skiing classic! Sun, warm temperatures, lots of snow, long views from the summit and no wind. Okemo had done some grooming over night, but there was enough skier traffic to churn up the snow to spring corn, but not enough skiers to form a a lift line.
...

    So Vt 3/20-21

Sorry I missed you at Magic yesterday, Sharon! I was one of the other people on the lift. Conditions were variable as you pointed out Witch to Lucifer wasn't fun but Wizard, Talisman, Bailout and Heart of the Magician was fun. Sigh, next year.

On 3/20 I was at Sugarbush and skied in...

    S'bush South, VT 2/21

Got to the 'bush early and was on the Gatehouse Quad heading up at 7:55 AM. There was 3 inches of new snow maybe a little more in places and snow was still falling. Got lots of fresh tracks and at 8:55 migrated to Castlerock and got two laps in before the lift shutdown for some reason. Headed...

    Sugarbush, VT 1/17/04 & Ascutney, VT 1/18

I headed up to Sugarbush to avoid some of the crowds in So VT and perhaps find some natural snow. Sugarbush wasn't crowded with short liftlines for a holiday Saturday. Conditions varied a lot depending on the aspect of the trail.

The best snow I found early was on North Lynx. The...

Loon mtn NH, 1-13, Killington VT 1-14

    Joe

Thanks for the report, I always enjoy your posts. Gotta give you credit for getting out there and skiing in the cold. I was at K on Sat and it was cold, but a little warmer than what you had. I have to be at work during the week.

T

    Cannon question

The top of Tuckerbrook is narrow but the trail open up once you get further away from the Taft. Be sure to spot a car as this trail ends up in the middle of no where.

I'd love to do this again, but don't make it to Cannon bet once a year these days.

    Cannon question

I'm not an expert having done it once ten or twelve years ago. Tuckerbrook is not a big dark secret as the particulars for this trail appears in Goodman's Book. You will need to stash a car in Franconia to get back to Cannon. The entrance is well on the skiers left of the Taft Slalom as you...

Killington, VT 1/10 and Okemo, VT 1/11

Brrr it was cold this weekend, but the snow was good and crowds were light, so I'm glad I bundled up and skied.

Killington was chosen for a ski location because of the gondolas and different mountain aspects in case the wind came up. The summit high temp on Saturday was -22 F, but the...

    Orford, PQ 1/3 & 1/4/04

I have been to Quebec and to Sugarloaf many times, but I have never driven from the loaf to Quebec. I don't have a feel for driving distances, but you may want to check out mapquest.

I had relatives who lived near the loaf and they went to Quebec city on a regular basis. If it is...

    Orford, PQ 1/3 & 1/4/04

When the ski conditions get tough optimists like me head further North up the road. After sampling the diabolical mix of a thin layer of loose granular over frozen hard pack and ice, crowded with skiers in the Northeast of the US, better conditions had to exist somewhere close by.
...

    Cannon Mt. - 4/12/03

A $399 season pass to Mammoth is a tremendous deal. I have skied Mammoth about 14 times and it is a tremendous ski area that makes K'ton look like the snow pile at the edge of Pat's Peak parking lot. The mountain has many lines that are unnamed and many secrets.

The downside to...

    Magic, VT: 03.22.03

I was at Magic on 3/23 and yes the snow is going fast on the trails in the sun. The snow was creamy and the bumps dreamy, but the granite unforgiving. For $21 including tax it was a bargain.

    Whistler/Black Comb BC 2/23 to 2/27

This was my first to Whistler. The conditions varied a lot from the high alpinewhre there was lots of powder to the base area where there was spring slush. I spent more time on Black Comb for what ever reason and had a blast.

The 'back side' of the mountain from the top of the T bar...

Jay VT 2/14, Sutton PQ 2/15 &16 and Burke VT 2/17

Valentine's Day at Jay was, well cold and breezy. The fresh snow during the week wasn't evident until deep in the glades. The groomed trails were a melange of wind pack, forzen granular and some scratchy spots. Timbuktu, Canyon Lands, Beaverpond and Buckwoods held some powder, but the glades...
