    Alta 3/12 and 3/13

It happened again today! I drove up LCC around 11 AM and it started puking snow. It didn't let up until I left around 4:30. Collins was down, so I just did laps on Wildcat into "Westward Ho." I hooked up with a guy from NC who didn't know the area, and we had the pleasure of seeing our own...

    Alta 3/12 and 3/13

I didn't get up to Alta today until around noon due to a combination of some painting I promised to get done, and the fact that on some days I run on "RT ..Retiree Time." I can usually see the storm clouds that hang over BCC and LCC from my house on the "bench" in Draper. Partly sunny, light...

    A touch of Utah advice

I got up to Snowbird a little after 11 AM today. Conditions were just as Tony described. I did a couple of circuits in and out of Mineral Basin (Went in via the Tunnel) and found some nice soft aspects that were very comfortable to ski. Temps were pretty high, but except for right down near...

    Alta, UT 3/8/08

Once again Admin: Thanks for the tour. Each time I go out with the crew I get to see another part of either Alta or Snowbird that I didn't know existed. It always amazes me how we get to ski nearly untracked powder shots when the rest of the mountain has been over-run by the powder hounds. :D

Ouch! On the other hand, you heal pretty fast when you are young. Give him my (and Susan's) regards.

    Glazed and confuzed

Yep! :D We have had a really nice and sunny week with moderating temps and even a bit of powder on Monday and Wed.

Admin speaks with forked tongue! He's the first guy to show a visitor around. He and the crew know where they hide the powder around here.

    Alta, UT 3/2/08

It was a georgeous day at Alta today. I too had to creep up the valley road (9400) this morning. But, it was worth it. I had a basically "never ever" friend from the east with me. We parked at Albion, booted up, and then I had her hike up the hill a few times and got her actually making some...

    Alta/Snowbird - 2/29

Yes, it was annoying that Supreme was down. And yes, it was in the high 40's and sunny

    Alta/Snowbird - 2/29

I skied Alta today also. Sunny, warm, and some great snow if you stayed in the north aspects or in the trees. My friend Paul (he too is an "immigrant" to UT that I recently met on a lift, and have started to hang with) and I did two laps on "Gun Sight." It is a heck of traverse and hike up...

No problem. What could be bad about lapping Supreme and Wildcat at Alta with new friends on a sunny day with soft snow?

It was nice to meet you today Tony while skiing with Admin's crew. I retired to SLC so that I could get in as many days on the slopes as possible with the minimum amount of travel time. (My home is 16 miles from the Tram.) Between acclimating to the altitude, and the number of powder days we...

    Monday Bloody Monday...

Hey Sharon, as my east coast ski buddy Bobby often says: "Sometimes you get to eat the bear, and sometimes the bear eats you." I hope your weather cooperates soon so you guys can make some turns before long.

Powder Mountain and Snowbasin Tire Chain Questions

No wonder I had to down-shift so often on the drive up to Powder!

Powder Mountain and Snowbasin Tire Chain Questions

Les Schwab Tire stores in the Salt Lake area have an interesting deal. You can buy a set of chains from them (around $60) and if you don't use them, you can get a refund at the end of the ski season. Check them out online or call them to see if that would work for you. I was up at Powder...

    My Week in Zion 2/1-2/9

Your photo album and video validate the adage: "A picture is worth a thousand words." No additional explanations are needed when I am asked why I sold out, packed up, and drove 2300 miles in a Penske truck last year to live here. Today was a classic "Blue Sky Day" with temps into the thirties...
