I haven't been to Jay yet this year, but I've noticed that extremely annoying tendency to list a trail as "open" on the snow report, and then you get there and it's closed. Somehow this just pisses me off far more than it would to just list the thing as "closed" in the first place.

I have to admit that I'm insanely jealous on seeing those pictures...and even more jealous that you could take them in the morning and be at work by afternoon. But keep them coming...at least those of us who are humble, not by virtue by but lack of mountains, can live vicariously.

I didn't have a 2nd car so tried tuckerbrook the hard way: skied it, and down at the bottom realized it was a long walk in ski boots back to the lift! Fortunately was able to hitch back to cannon with no problem, but not recommended! A fantastic report -- thanks for pointing it out.

This looks completely bizarre. Does anyone know what the point of a monoski is? I know it's different and that might be enough for some people. But are there any aspects where its performance is better than "normal" skis, or things you can do on a monoski that you can't do on skis?

It is a lot of money, way too much for me. But to be fair they're talking about attempting first descents every day...it's not really fair to compare this to a standard heliskiing operation.

Places I've never been that I'd like to hit this year: Burke Sugarloaf Would like to ski Sugarbush, but I have a pass at MRG and can never bring myself to shell out 60 bucks when I can ski next door for free. Would also like to check out whiteface and other NY resorts but that's far enough...
