    Chicago Ski Writer

Good story Wags, I really hate the fact that flying out of Chicago to the West is so much cheaper than flying out of Detroit 90% of the time, heck North West hub is here! Ohh well, we do have the Red Wings

How Are Current Economic Conditions Affecting Your Skiing?

As everyone knows Michigan is really taking this current economic condition right on the nose. It was very evident to me in Northern Michigan, where skiers and snowmobiles go from he metro Detroit area and Indiana/Ohio. Talking with people that work at Boyne and local restaurants and casinos are...

Lake Tahoe 2-12/13/14-09 (Squaw, Heavenly, Kirkwood)

Nice shots with the camera. I like the boot cam, i have done that a few times on the snowboard, but looks like it would work a little better with my skis. that hard part is keeping the snow off it, in all that pow

    Chair Lift for One?

Lot's of good info everyone! As time get's closer I will contact everyone that might be out there, and see if we can plan something. I defiantly want to hit Vail 1 of my 4 or 5 days I will be skiing, and A-Basin once (never been there) I didn't care for Keystone that much, but the cat skiing was...

    Mt. Brighton 2.21.2009

The 5" to 10" snow storm, ended up being 4" maybe 5" The Fun events were canceled due to the cold (Slush cup would have been an ice cup) so no beer tent either  I do not see the fun day re-posted (maybe they had it on Sunday) Crowds were pretty light, even with the new snow. Skiing was...

    Chair Lift for One?

Here is the scoop. I am trying to get some friends to ski Colorado with me march 27th - March 31st, so far no luck in getting anyone to bite on the trip. (my ski buddy/wife is Prego and can’t go but she keeps telling I can, she rocks! :) Reason friends can’t make it include Kids, Wives, Job...

Snow in the forcast, South East & West Michigan

Looks like Mt Brighton, Holly, Alpine, and pine knob are going to favor well from this Saturday storm. If the storm track holds, we could see 4" to 8" maybe a foot of new snow! It's fun day at Mt Brighton.. I will compete in the beer tent event \:D/ should be a good weekend to ski/ride

    Mt Brighton

started about 10:30am with mostly cloudy and 36* The groomed Snow had a nice 1/2" to 1" spring corn slush on top, made for quick edge to edge turns on the twins \:D/ Temps jumped up to 42* by 1pm and the snow was getting softer so i switched to the snowboard for a while. The park still had...

    BitterSweet 2.6.09

Started out at 11am under blue sky's and about 37* Light crowds with very little lift lines at the high speed quad made for a good amount of vertical, for a 350foot hill. I must say it really does feel bigger than my local areas (Mt Brighton, Alpine, Holly, Pine Knob) and has a good range of...

    The Boyne's 1-31-09

Decided to ski both Boyne's in one day (not really a hard thing to do) Started off at Boyne MT, had a fresh 2" or 3" of lake effect snow, calm winds, and very light crowds. Skiing was mostly packed powder with a few spots of ice here and there. Boyne highlands was a little better with less ice...

Crystal Mnt, Boyne Highlands, or Boyne Mt for 1st timers

My 2cents: Boynehighlands would be the place I would pick for a great family learning environment, they have certified instructors, and a great beginner area. They have a magic carpet lift (you basically stand on a carpet conveyor that takes you up a small beginner hill) lots of little things...
