    Drought? Yeah! Yeah! Yeah!

Well our season passes to Mt. High were a total waste of money this year. They are closed and opening the frisbee golf course this weekend while Bear and Snow Summit just keep on going a couple of weeks later. As for our passes we never even got on a lift as our trips were spent working with our...

Grand Targhee, WY Opening Day 11/22/13

Targhee is an awesome place! Had some good days there years ago when my friend was the Mountain Manager and I have family in Driggs.

June Mountain, CA to shut down for 2012-13

Don't know if feasible, but maybe the people of June Lake can form a non-profit Foundation like they did in Ashland, Oregon to keep Mt. Ashland afloat. The Mt. Ashland Association is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) charitable organization organized under the laws of the State of Oregon exclusively to...

June Mountain, CA to shut down for 2012-13

Wrong Tony! Mt. High has no base area development at all and they own it I believe and Karl owns the management company.

June Mountain, CA to shut down for 2012-13

Be nice to see a good management team formed and then present June to CNL. Seems like the type of property they may be interested in.

All those who were missing after an avalanche Sunday near a popular ski resort in Washington state have been accounted for, and the total number of people killed remains at three, a resort official said. John Gifford, general manager at the Stevens Pass ski area, says he's unsure how many...

    Trees & Powder - Jan 2012

If Southern California gets a big storm with good snowfall you can't beat Mt. Waterman for Trees, Steeps, and Powder with little crowds.

Mountain High: Saving $ or Drought Survival Mode?

Karl doesn't own the resort, he owns the operating company that manages the daily operations. Mt. High, like many other ski resorts around the country is owned by CNL Lifestyles and leased out.

Mountain High: Saving $ or Drought Survival Mode?

That would be a great idea to have an East only ticket and pass system and keep it mainly for skiers and families. I think Big Bear has a Bear only pass and Snow Summit is kept set up for mainly skiers except for Westridge I believe.

Mountain High: Saving $ or Drought Survival Mode?

Kind of funny, but people are even telling them sell East on the Mt. High website Forum now.

Mountain High: Saving $ or Drought Survival Mode?

I have to wonder as I read what everybody is saying here. Maybe Karl is now sole owner of the operating company due to investors pulling out because they were not making a return on investment and that is now leading to drastic cost cutting to keep it going. Hopefully that is not the case...

Mountain High: Saving $ or Drought Survival Mode?

Mt. Waterman and Kratka operated everyday for nearly 50 years and created nice livings for the Newcomb and Hensley families. Sure there were some lean years. They really need someone with a good investment to make it happen again and complete the snowmaking plans that both original owners were...

Mountain High: Saving $ or Drought Survival Mode?

Karl has taken over sole ownership of the MH operating company which has resulted in some cost cutting it looks like. CNL still owns the resort and it would be more likely for CNL to bring in a new operator for East than sell it. They could take it back to Holiday Hill (Tim Cohee bought Sierra...

    Mammoth Mtn. Sundeck 1973

I'm bad, your right it was NFC game with Dallas. I put a search into Google with 49er Super Bowl History and The Catch came up. Guess I should have read whole story (it was too long ago to remember). But I do remember everyone in Dave's office watching that game.
