    Whitefish Montana 3/18-3/20 2013

There is pretty much 2 bowls served by Limelight, you can get to all bar the furthest terrain(Fingers) from the lift and Fingers you can hike easily upwards to the top of Anaconda lift in less than 5 minutes to save going to the base area. I did this twice today ~12pm to hit the corn. The area...

    Ski Discovery MT 3/21/13

By what I am told the busiest day this year had ~2000 people. I won't be heading to Utah this winter, I am spending the last week skiing for free at Big Sky.

    Whitefish Montana 3/18-3/20 2013

Tony, the interesting terrain at Discovery is 1000ft vertical Limelight lift so I would treat the 2400ft with your usual sceptism  . It was closed a week past Friday when I arrived due to freeze/thaw as it does not get the sun and was considered dangerous before the next storm and without...

    Ski Discovery MT 3/21/13

Woah woah woah, shhhhhhush. I was there that day too, been here for a couple weeks, very warm now. I'd be absolutely astonished if I did not see you guys back on Limelight. Trust me, that day was busy, I skied Limelight this week and for 90 minutes one morning I saw one patroller! Did you...

One of my favorite areas, thanks for sharing Tony. Will be there for a day in a month's time I would think!

A-Basin vs. Ski Cooper for half day?

Depending on how much is open and how modest an intermediate you actually are would sway my choice a little. Ski Copper is definately worth a 1/2 day and had great groomers when I visited but 8 days out, not sure how much will be open then. A-Basin needs a lot of snow to be good IMO and I don't...

    Big Sky Ticket Deal

That's changed this year, they usually close the same day as Discovery. Might well have to make another purchase!

    Big Sky Ticket Deal

Well, I have sorted myself out for 2013. I have my season pass which has already more than paid for itself at Discovery and have just purchased the Frequent Sky Card from Big Sky for $49. It means that next winter when Discovery closes on April 7th I can ski the entire next week if I want for...

    Skiing In Scotland

I woke up this morning, originally i did not think it was groundhog day but maybe it is! Tony, yes there is some fantastic terrain, yes I would love to ski some of it but put this year into perspective. This is a highly unusual year over here, the typical part of the year that you would expect...

    Discovery, MT 3-19-12

I would agree that after a week with no new snow Discovery can become a little bland to say the least. However, in terms of busy I think having spoken at large to many people over the last couple years it is impossible for Discovery to be busy on the mountain. A busy day at the very most from...

    Discovery, MT 3-19-12

So far I have 14 days in at Discovery, 2 at Red Mountain, 1 at Lookout Pass, 1 at Schweitzer and 1 at Great Divide. I binned Utah for a knee deep Saturday at Discovery and closing day yesterday which was quiet and a blast with a BBQ at the top of the mountain with elk and all sorts of food and...

    Schweitzer or Wolf Creek

Wonder how Wolf Creek was today? 12" easily this morning and snowed all day and still going at 6pm for tomorrow. Should be epic. :stir:

    Discovery, MT 3-19-12

As I sit here in the Sunshine Station at P'burg it is starting to snow heavily once more. Today might not be great but if it keeps up then tomorrow may be superb.

    Discovery, MT 3-19-12

Day 2 :-D After skipping skiing on Saturday to drink beer fromm 9.15am I hit the slopes on Sunday with a reported 8" of fresh and some powder crowds. Luckily everyone had read Tony Crockers posts that Discovery would struggle come March and the longest wait was 6 chairs. The patroller I...

    Big Sky Montana 2/25-3/2

Thanks for sharing, I'd be interested in seeing any pictures you have from the tram. I'm out in Montana in a couple weeks and hope to bag a day at Big Sky.

    Schweitzer or Wolf Creek

I'd say that this year is probably the year to do Schweitzer. I agree with Tony regarding the elevation and who knows what it will be like in March, my experience of the PNW in March/April is that there is every bit as much of a chance of a major storm rolling in as there is of it being sunny...

    Montana Snowbowl, Feb. 4, 2012

Frankly, i've never seen a problem going up the road as it is. Around 2003 I had a normal, small 2WD car in 12" of snow and got up no bother at all from Drummond. i find it hard to believe a road to the backside would make an difference but again thats only my opinion.

    Montana Snowbowl, Feb. 4, 2012

Another nice report Tony, can certainly agree with a lot of your experience and thoughts with regards to the snow on the front side in various conditions. I love Snowbowl, usually go there on my first day of the trip but now I keep my gear in Philipsburg it does not work out so may have to visit...
