    South America 2026

As Chris said when I first went mini weeks were only offered occasionally over the course of the summer. Now they make it much easier. Theyve also added online reservation systems which make it much easier. While I agree with the sentiments on the skiing itself (which can be quite excellent if...

    South America 2026

Both my trips have been in late August in years following big July storms like this. I’ve always gotten impression that is spring skiing and it’s tough to imagine the season lingering on much longer than that.

    South America 2026

Ive been following Portillio forecasts each summer for a decade and while sometimes they are outlandish this one is at another level. Will have to wait and see how things shake out but its entirely possible August in Portillo is worthwhile this year.

Spring 2026 in Utah Cottonwood Canyons

Small section but they kept it open yesterday. All in all it was a great day out there yesterday. Front side from 12-2 was great, wish they would stay open until 3 but no complaints. Rasta chutes, regulator, great Scott all skiing very well and even the bump runs on lower Peruvian were pleasant...

Spring 2026 in Utah Cottonwood Canyons

At Snowbird? Looked like Mineral may not have even opened today. My dad beat me by a day and said Alta was great today 11-1 but he mainly sticks to cruising at this point.

    Snowbird, UT 13 Mar 2026

Uch. Hadn’t really looked at terrain openings. Not pretty. Last time I was there in April I remember that area skiing great even in the warmth. They already announced 8-2 through Sunday at minimum.

I do one tune up at the start of the season and that’s it but no real game plan. Probably a good idea though.

    Snowbird, UT 13 Mar 2026

Figured I would post this here--I will be out there (Snowbird) Saturday, Sunday, Monday. This is the coming forecast Curious from those that ski there regularly. How should I plan my days? They already announced today's hours as 8-2 due to wet slides. Im going to assume it will be the same...

Zermatt Snow 2025/26: Rote Nase Cable Car Policy & Hohtälli Zone

Maybe not the off piste but looks like a blue bird day in Zermatt to me. Always special!

Spring 2026 in Utah Cottonwood Canyons

Looks pretty great to me. Due to fly to Snowbird Friday. Between the TSA scenes bombarding my social media and the doom and gloom from Opensnow I needed some photos like that to keep me sane!

As a frequenter of their site, I’m pretty sure I recall this odd ranking existing well prior to ChatGPT or anything similar.

When I went in 2008 I was 19 years old and the info I could piece together on the internet about where to ski was a lot less impressive than today. I chose Innsbruck only because I had an uncle who studied abroad there in the 70s and knew they had had the olympics twice. There had been a youtube...

    Western North America Conditions 2025/26

That is reassuring, Evans daily opensnow reports are pretty apocalyptic but suppose those are statewide. My main concern is just the upcoming 5 day bake and the base falling apart. Seems like 4/5 nights of temps in the high 40s and above 60 during the day. I have done the golf/ski trip before...

    Western North America Conditions 2025/26

I have Snowbird reservations the last weekend in March. Non-refundable :( Maybe I will stay in the valley and drive down valley for golf every day!

    Northeastern U.S. Weather & Conditions

Hopefully I’ll be able to get them involved with some instruction there next season. We tried a lesson at Catamount last year and it seemed to me like the teachers at Butternut were more professional and older (just from looking) whereas Catamount kind of just seemed to be high school kids.

    Northeastern U.S. Weather & Conditions

Was at Butternut again today and decided to take them up on their season pass deal for next year. The cost of my 2 day lift ticket (180) was applied towards skiing the rest of this season free and a season pass for next year (400). For 220 extra seemed like a good deal. i had not been to...

    Northeastern U.S. Weather & Conditions

I was at Butternut today and the conditions were surprisingly great . Plenty of coverage, soft spring snow, empty and very pleasant out. I’m coming back up in two weeks and based on this weeks coming forecast I’d imagine it will look a lot different.

    Europe 2025/26

got very lucky! A few days later and it would have been a different story. I’ve had interlodge/canyon issues ruin a few days in LCC before so Chris’s point is fair but I still think on the whole there is more variability to the alps vs west. That article just mentioned resorts shutting due to...

    Europe 2025/26

https://snowbrains.com/french-ski-resorts-close-due-to-extreme-avalanche-danger/ Sounds like a mess during the peak of school holidays. Amazing how many more variables there are to contend with in the alps vs us. Need snow but not too much snow, sun but not too much sun, cold temps low winds etc.
