I cant get past the paywall to read the details, but the headline is accurate. Remoteness cant be compared to anywhere in the lower 48. Maybe similar to remote Alaska. Most are in the wilderness, hundreds of miles from the nearest roads.

MCP must know something about how to run ski areas in marginal areas. They seem to keep expanding in that market. They have had a long stretch of below freezing temps. I suspect they have the same water issues as Colorado/Utah with the majority of their water falling in the winter.

I also have opensnow and was following that storm. The storm didnt vanish, it just got warmer. When I look carefully at OpenSnows forecast for Nevados De Chillian, I see a lot of rain. Looks like they are getting the SA version of the pineapple express. This is metric:

There i no question that trying to plan a trip to SA appears to be a complete gamble. I have some time off the second week of August and have been considering it, However, thats now 1 month away and there isnt any snow.

Maybe they decided to try some chlorine. It does wonders to prevent my pool from turning green.
