    Hunter 3/17-18

I only made it up for Sunday, K27 was the sweetest run of the day with a good amount of left over snow on it, the skiers left started to get eaten up a bit but I hope the trail can pull through well into April. Annapurna was punishing with piles of snow covering icy bumps. Wasn't all that...

Eastern Skis: your powder weapon of choice...

I've skied on my mantras 6 days now, 2 of them "spring like" days (in January  ), and they really were beautiful in the softer snow. 3 days were in icy conditions, mostly on trails, not the woods, and I did have brief moments of chatter here and there, but I still loved them, and if...

Gone into Powder Mode- This is gonna be unfrigginreal

AND, I would drive a bus with no brakes down a mountain dirt road in bolivia any day, so I look forward to whatever vermont roads can dish out to me

Gone into Powder Mode- This is gonna be unfrigginreal

Well im leaving now (midnight) so most of the storm has passed by at this point.... but earlier yeah I'm sure it was impossible. I'm going to make it at any cost - anyone at stowe, ill be in a dark blue jacket, light gray pants and mantras. Hope to see anyone who's up there! Sven

Gone into Powder Mode- This is gonna be unfrigginreal

I'll be driving up to Stowe in a ford with no snow tires and no 4wd - having either of those would be nice but if youre used to driving in snow enough its not that big of a deal. I almost want to detour to Hunter mtn and take photographs in an effort to prove Tony wrong, but this storm...

Eastern Skis: your powder weapon of choice...

I just bought a pair of Mantras (184 cm), and they are awesome in everything except icy tight bumps. theyre still fun in any conditions, maybe not always optimal, but I would probably not hesitate to make them my primary all-conditions ski if I didnt have an old pair of 7/24 Pro's as a second...

Hunter removes season totals from conditions page

At least those 13, honest, hard working and patriotic inches are being given the credit they deserve!

Hunter removes season totals from conditions page

Someone had to call them out on it, and this seems like the most likely place to do it. What gives? I'd like to see the natural snow totals even if it's not the prettiest sight. Sven

Got a few Face Shots Today: Stowe 1/16

God damnit, looks like I should have found out where you were skiing and followed you today.... But I had a decent time on Nose Dive :?

    Stowe 01/16/07

Got up to the hill around 9:30 AM this morning, pretty damn cold.... it was something like 13 at the base I think, i do remember seeing -1 or -2 on the thermometer at the top of the quad all day.... and pretty heavy winds. I scoped out the gondola side and it was all very firm groomed surfaces...

Final Forecast A Few Posts Down in This Thread

Hey guys, Scott, whoever else might be at Stowe tomorrow and Tuesday. If any of you are out and spot me come by and say hello. I'll be wearing gray pants and a blue or black jacket and ill be on the red volkl mantras (unless something awful goes wrong with the weather and then I'll be on my...

Final Forecast A Few Posts Down in This Thread

Looking too good to not take a chance and see what kind of snowfall ends up materializing. Seems like I've got a good opportunity to break out the Mantra's finally.... who's going to be out tomorrow? I think Stowe seems like a solid bet for me....

Dec. 18-25 near NYC for never-ever family? Advice PLS?

If youre spending a whole weeks time, I would definitely not recommend Hunter (although Hunter is really the only ski area I ever ski when taking a day trip from NYC - mostly because it has alot of fairly steep terrain compared to anything else nearby, and you can avoid the crowds fairly well if...

    Tucks, 4/20/06; Stowe, 4/21/06

I'll post the photos later on, its a whole lot of stuff to sort through.... Thursday was a picture perfect day for Tucks, no icefall despite the high temps, maybe a good 40-50 people up there. Someone set off some major amount of sluff over to the right of the lip and it nearly buried my skis...

Eastern Closing Dates (planned or probable)

Looks like some terrible news! I'm making my trip up to Tucks for this Thursday (anyone gonna be in the ravine?) and maybe I'll try to hit Killington right before driving back on Friday. Ive been seeing forecasts calling for rain and mid 50's high's for the Mt. Washington region beginning...

    Jay 03/22/06, Stowe 03/23/06

I didn't mean to sound too bitter in my write up - my day at Stowe was definitely awesome. Jay, not so much so. The way reporting is done certainly makes sense from a marketing perspective - but alot of practices that are considered harmful to consumers also make sense from a marketing...
