I'm headed out in four days. Can someone give me a description of your snowpack and weather? I know there's been huge dumps within, what?, the last two weeks. Then it dried up and got warmer? Am I anywhere close? From what I can tell it doesn't look like any big storms are in the forecast...

Gorgeous pics! The Chic-Chocs have just moved up a notch or two in my to-do list. I know no French though and would need a guide. Do you need avie gear for that area? I saw the avalanche warning sign in one of the pictures. mtngirl

Madde a couple of runs on the quad to warm up and wait for Timberline to start spinning. The snow was strange...cold and sticky. It was freezing, too, so I didn't mind taking a break so soon. I popped into the shop where the boys hooked me up with a quick cold-weather wax (thanks, Steve!)...

I met him mid-ride on the upper slopes of the M1 lift line at Smuggs on Sunday. He recognized me (not sure how) and introduced himself. Patrick and friend skied Robin's Run with me and my crew. Don't worry. He got his...powder shots!

Yes, I am truely grateful for the gifts of being close to the mtns and having plenty of vacation time to enjoy them. I don't mean to seem greedy or unappreciative. Yay for an awesome start to the season!

I know..but I still dream...if I live really cheaply, work at the mtn for my pass, keep on not having kids...give up my really nice teaching job...would it be worth it? I am battling a serious addiction here, folks.

It's days like today that I wonder why I work a real job. All I want in the entire world is to be on the hill shredin pow. Won't someone please, please pay me to ride?

I went up to Smuggs around noon. There wasn't much wind, but there was a whole lot of powder. Eveything was opened up...all the woods shots were super sweet. Even the back bowls were stellar!

Anyone up for a hike?

It's a play day for teachers/ski bums! Does anyone know when the wind is supposed to die off? I want to get out and make some turns in the fresh, but I'm sure the lifts are on wind hold. It sounds like the wind is trying to bring the world crashing down around us.

Bolton Valley is fun because it's a scrappy, locals scene. There is a lot of good backcountry there, or so I've heard. I'll be checking it out this year. The only downside is that the mountain is short, and it's pretty flat near the bottom. On piste the runouts are long. Off piste requires...
