Real jobs are a drag...

It's days like today that I wonder why I work a real job. All I want in the entire world is to be on the hill shredin pow. Won't someone please, please pay me to ride?

Alas, you're not alone...

Somebody's gotta pay for those season passes, fat skis, groceries, electricity, rent, children.....

It's an age old dilemna...something I think about all the time.

At least you are living close to the goods.

:D

I know..but I still dream...if I live really cheaply, work at the mtn for my pass, keep on not having kids...give up my really nice teaching job...would it be worth it? I am battling a serious addiction here, folks.

We all dream and the reports of those who are shreddin pow are killin us. But the fact is that it is early season and there will be plenty of time to shred pow. Let the base build now and take some time off for the next storm. Not everyone can just take off and go ski whenever they want. Just a select few and they all make us quite jealous.

The fact is that there are other things in life that are important...and these are the things that are keeping us from skiing right now...careers, families, economics and more.

Live a balanced life with adquate doses of powder and you will be just fine.

A good thing about being a teacher is that you get the summer off. I'm thinking South America or New Zealand as an easy cure. So between 1-2 months in the Southern Hemisphere and Winter in Vermont, things could be worst, n'est- pas?

I hate to whine excessively, but you are in Vt, at least. I'm stuck here in Western NY. The local hill wants $51 for 8 hours on two trails. And as Sharon writes, the season is young yet.

On the other hand, Holiday Valley opens tomorrow for $4. That's right, four simoleans! But, they don't have much open yet, and I'd have to leave the house at 6:30 AM to be sure of arriving in time to get the tickets before 10AM, when the discount expires.

I like the summer in NZ idea, too.

Yes, I am truely grateful for the gifts of being close to the mtns and having plenty of vacation time to enjoy them. I don't mean to seem greedy or unappreciative. Yay for an awesome start to the season!
