    Most skied resorts

Interesting topic... I don't have detailed logs but my estimates are below. I've skied about 120 ski areas so I mix it up and have dozens of ski areas I have been to a dozen times but I set the cut off at 15 for the below list. I figure I have around 500 total ski days over 35 years of skiing...

Vail Resorts Red Flags in 2021-22

I've been skiing the Vail area almost every new years for the last 25 years and I am sure they could have had much more open with staffing. Grooming was another sign staffing was down with about 40% less groomed runs and those that were groomed were often only groomed 20% of the width of the...

ski area myth busters - good or bad

That's a good point about Pali closing around Mothers Day most years. IMO pali+imperial is better than Mammoth, but pali or imperial is not. I didn't get a chance to ski Hohtalli or Laub due to conditions and not having a guide respectively. I did ski some extended pitches but they were rare.

ski area myth busters - good or bad

Arlberg, Davos, Zermatt, Portes du Soleil, Engelberg, Trysil, Salen. Arlberg was my favorite with good snow and some nice runs. I enjoyed the backside of Mammoth and caught roadrunner for most of the runs as you mentioned. I explored hemlock and a few other lines that required a hike out too...

ski area myth busters - good or bad

Great topic... One caveat, even my disappointing destinations have been a lot of fun. I also noticed a trend which is that the disappointments relate to personal preference so others may like different things. In particular, I value longer descents, low crowds, fast groomers, challenging...

    World’s Best Ski Resorts

My math was simple 76cm/week at Zermatt divided by 32cm/week at Mammoth = 2.4 more snow at Zermat. 2.4 * 350 inches/year at Mammoth = 830. Without knowing there methodlogy and definition, my math is just an approximation. Regardless, I think we all agree that the numbers in the article are...

    World’s Best Ski Resorts

The below link is one of many lists of top ski resorts in the world. The list may be a bit euro centric but generally seems reasonable. They also list the stats on each ski area and the snowfall stat caught my eye. The stat is in cm of snow per week which is a bit unusual but if you convert...

Assuming you didn't duck a rope, it's odd they gave you a hard time. Usually they rope off the entries to Rose Bowl around 3 and quite a few people ski down after with no problems. I often try to time last chair there and for chair 5 at Vail and never had a problem. Often dozens of people do...

    Taos: Kachina Peak

Tony, your looking at the wrong peak in that Google earth screen shot. Kachina is the next peak to the north and it's quite a bit smoother.
