when snow gets to be so good that heads start shaking, arms get raised, and skiing leaves you in a trance state, things like location, terrain, snowpack, state, country, and continent just plain don't matter none. a hot butter knife slicing through room temp butter on yer moms sacred china, (no, it wasn't firm underneath, the china is just for effect), describes what the skiing at sunday rivah was like today. every frickin last turn was epic.
the small group of skiers i was with appreciate a good round carved turn and don't let any get away without noting. every pitch of every run left my group exchanging glances and head shaking back and forth, with, "wtf's" and "this is too easy" . round turns of all sizes, high edge angle, low edge angle, jet turns, smears, carves, banking, quick changeups, all of it. right till 3 when i left it just got bettah and bettah. hmm maybe 50 cars in the lot and never more than 8 people in the lodge at any given time. love mid week! gonna freeze up good tonight to make all of that perfect turn to purgatory till more snow falls, sunday? do i need to take monday off for another special pow day? maybe. day 5 was another ice free day for icelanticskier. ice in new england? i can't find any.
