Hi you all... sorry if I was very quiet the last weeks.... lot of work at job + on ZS...

Here is my video of last weekend at La Réserve. I know most of you have already seen a lot of pics of powder, chutes, cliffs, glades, etc of this mountain, but I think this is a seriously good video to learn more about the interesting possibilities (and the craziness) of this mountain

So here it is ! Raise the volume up and enjoy !!

... this is just a "little teaser"

Great video!

but just a slight correction... this wasn't champagne powder at all! It was pure eastern chowder! Champagne powder refers to snow that has only 7% humidity... what we had was fluffy but full of humidity... If you had 20in of champagne, you would really beat the crap at of your skis!

The snow we got was thick and you could really push and lean into it... Pure eastern chowder!

Great video! Looking forward to the next storm!

ok, let's say then that it was some "champagne powder" for some Quebec chowder ;) Looks like it was way more fluffy than in the other places where we've seen some videos. I guess it's with the higher elevation + particular microclimate of the area...

anyway, sorry if the word wasn't the best, but it was still incredibly nice ;)

Hard to believe , we were at La Reserve 24 hours later and all skied out , spent the day dodging rocks . Great video , what a difference a day can make .

I would say 3h...

at 8h30 it was almost tough to advance in the Chute Libre... too much snow

at 12h, there wasn't a single trace of powder left in that trail... all packed with rocks...

Awesome video, Frank! This next storm should be pretty good up there too! Make another video...snow should be a little wetter this time around. I'm looking for 12-24" in a zone right up the St. Lawrance River Valley and then into extreme northern Maine. This could be a great storm from Mount Orford (close call there for rain vs. snow) to Mount Saint-Anne (I think I spelled that right). Keep us posted!

That last storm when you took that video, Montreal reported over 12" in under 6hrs so the snowfall rates must've been amazing on the mountain that morning!

While the Grinch came down out of the mountains to drop rain and freezing rain over Quebec?s eastern townships bordering VT, NH , The Laurentian and North Eastern Quebec zones were spared and received primarily heavy wet snow clinging to branches . 4to 8 inches fell. Our mid Laurentian zone received about 4 inches. The zone North East of Quebec city is reporting 8 inches and just north east of us (La Reserve 6 inches).

Light rain, drizzle and +1c all days yesterday in Ottawa

Mixte precipation forecast today, however Montreal should get more Montreal.

The worst part, Frank is with his in-laws for the Holidays. The good part is that they are in the Charlevoix region. where over 40cm is forecast. I hope he get out skiing, if not he's going to me terribly frustrated.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. :P

 Frank got married??

 Girlfriend and living together. It's been probably close to two years now.

No, she's not crazy like he is.

I was there on Monday, December 26th and it was even nicer than December 17th. The base is now solid even in the FreeFall.

About 25 cm of new snow for that day.

Now it's today the problem, with freezing rain even up there

Hey guys !!

Long time no see... after almost 10 days in Charlevoix without internet...

So yes, on the dec 26 storm, we got 20" of snow and absolutely no liquid. I skied the Mont Grand Fonds ski area 3 times in the week and did a little video of dec 27 (with all the snow) and dec 30.

The snow was more wet than at La Réserve on december 17, but still it was incredibly nice to ski on it ;)

If you want to see the video, it's there... however it's not exactly the same punch and quality than the video at La Réserve

PS for Marc and Patrick : Just turned 1¾ year with my girlfriend, to be exact...
