3 Vallées, FR: 03/12/23

I stayed in the village/town for a week in April 2024. The skiing was good as we got more snow that week than any other week in the season apparently. I didn't like the feel of the village though. The slopy (yeah it's a ski village) topography doesn't grab me. It felt a little soulless to me. A bit try hard upmarket unlike Tignes which has a distinct feel of grungy genuineness and Val D'Isere which feels classy without trying to be so. I might be reading it wrong though. I'm sure there are plenty of punters that love it.

In 2022 Liz and I were at Club Med Val Thorens, which is ski-in ski-out and extremely self contained. Liz explored the village one afternoon and came back to get me as she found the yellow ski jacket I've been wearing most winter ski days since. It drove her nuts that I did not have a left side arm pocket for RFID passes in my blue jackets. RFIDs in the Alps seem to scan left side only, unlike many in North America that scan both sides.
