DAY...79... oldman winter and mother nature were letting all of us have a reminder of who's boss in l.c.c. especially this morning . a mothers day dump of the windiest kind . 2and 3/4 hours after arrival at snowbird this morning snowbird was able to load trams to the public . snowbird did open peruvian chair to approx. 20 chairs loaded with public . then the wind shifted too a different gear and really started to blow . i haven't figured if missing that chair ride mattered or not , with the length of time it took to empty the chair after they stopped loading , sitting up near the summit wouldn't have been nice first thing in the morning in a 45 m.p.h. wind .
at this point the both of us were questioning the kind of day ahead . departed alta with both vehicles , at this point that wasn't a bad move. arrived at snowbird to this .
arriving on the summit at 11:45 a.m. to reg. only. blasting operations at this hour of the day were still a good thought but of no real meaning , the wind was simply moving to great an amount of snow .
really to sit back and look at the origins of this cycle of storms , one would have to say the day after rdwore left town on wed. morning it hasn't except for a few hours on sat. stopped snowing. thur= 11" at the get go ----- friday= 6" at the get go and 6" more that afternoon ----- sat. morning =5" at the get go , with a slight break in the storms ----- sun. morning there was 10" at the get go with a 45 m.p.h. sustained wind from the north north east making everything facing west and south deposit zones for all that snow that fell from thur. on . amyz and i skied chamonix chute one first thing this morning to knee deep pow.
