5/31/14.. alta+snowbird leftovers

DAY..86+1.... stopped on the way to alta this morning to check on comma chute haven't skied that yet this year until today , amyz joined me for the first run in there of the year .

also to see whats been happening at alta as far as changing some of the lower hill . i didn't take alot of photos of what was happening because it didn't look dramatic enough to photo , but the one i did take is pretty dramatic. it's hard to see much of a change yet looking on altas cameras , but up on the hill getting a closeup look shows alot more already .

skiing up hill was easy on the heavily catted snow under the collins lift. alta for the most part is still covered wall to wall with good cover.

after skinning to the summit of wildcat chair which really was a short hike considering what we could have done amyz and i walked up to the gun building and enjoyed the day there for at least an hour .taking a few photos for you to enjoy .

it was no big deal to ski to the top of whoodunnit , and walk down the summer road from there . snowbird has plowed the snow otherwise we would have skied out still a few more weekends to enjoy ..
 
that was the most dramatic thing i saw . alta had removed the snowgun at the top of corkscrew , the one that makes the giant whale , and they blast it down ninas too . they have dragged more snow making pipe up the hill . a couple of 20" long sections of drain pipe up hill . be interesting to see just how wide corkscrew becomes .
