Alta, Quebec
Last week I wrote that the Laurentians required enough snow to ski/ride on top of the rock hard icy 3 feet base and ice crust layer , well we got it. About a foot of snow fell since last Sunday and maybe an inch or two today. With this type of snow the best Laurentian place to head to is Alta the all natural snow place with little to no grooming. The place skis like a big mountain with lots of narrow back wood trails covered in new snow on top of a rock hard base. The open trails are also left ungroomed allowing for nice turns. Light snow is still falling and tomorrow should be another great day as the sun will be out helping out the flat light situation.
