Alta, Quebec

Alta, Quebec (Laurentian Natural snow centre) opened Dec. 24 and we were there today skiing on 100% natural snow. This miniature MRG can really give you a work out as all the trails and glades offer a real good sampling of quality ungroomed skiing. About 8 inches of wet snow fell yesterday and dried out overnight as temperatures dropped under clear conditions. Some branches were sticking out through the snow but not enough to trip you up. Managed to make it through the day with out hitting any rocks. Close to 3' of snow now on the ground in the Laurentian zone.

Sorry Anthony, I just couldn't resist. :lol: People that I've been reading here for I will all have heard from Frank about the great skiing at Alta, QC.

No problem , Alta is the place we go in the Laurentians after a snow storm as with little to no grooming you get to ski powder until it is all skied out. A family of 5 can also ski for about the same price as one lift ticket at Tremblant. The 600 ?of vertical can really pack a punch.

I was there last Saturday from 10h00 to 12h00...

I lot of snow yes... but a lot of branches in the steep areas such as Upper SuperSpeed, Upper Principal, Upper Fantastik, Marty, Olympique, Slalom Géant. It was pretty hot to near 32 F (0 C). My favorite run was the lower part of SuperSpeed. After the pitches, it was time to do cross country skiing in deep snow. Almost no groomed trails.


I had lunch at the mountain and after I took the road to go to Tremblant and ski most of the afternoon on North Side. The Paradise :wink: Banzai and Marie Claude Asselin were awesome to even in deep fog

This weekend I'll probably try it out again because last year I really enjoyed Alta. I'm waiting for the moguls
