Wow! This thread is full of skiing and real life! I'm feeling like Rip van Winkle as I see that I missed a lot while out skiing last week. First, I too want to send my best wishes to tirolerpeter and wish him a fast recovery and a future full of ski fun. I've lost an uncle and one grandfather to aneurysms. So, I sort of celebrate every time I hear of a successful intervention.
Second, wow! What a week! And thanks Marc (aka Admin) and Marc_C! Tom and I enjoyed our runs through the "elephant snot" (12/14) and powder shots (12/17) with you and the gang. Over the course of 5 days (Wed-Sun) we skied mostly high angle stuff on snow conditions that ranged from hip deep powder (Wed, Sat, Sun) to eastern hardpack (Fri).
For those who count (hey Tony!) our daily vert's ranged between 17K-23K. Not bad for early season!
Sunday conditions were phenomenal! I just wish that we had fresh legs that day. We returned home totally cooked.
I'm still recovering from the return trip. Our United flight took off 1.5 hrs late, so we missed our Denver connection. We were able to hitch a midnight Frontier flight into BWI, and we got home about 7 AM--so I went on to work. After a full night's sleep, I'm finally feeling human. But our bags have yet to catch up with us. Hopefully, the airline will deliver them tomorrow. But, I could care less! I'm still grinning from all that great Alta snow.
Cheers,
Jeff
