I think "you have to walk out" is fair enough warning for chair 1. That means Sugarpine is not appropriate. Bentley's will get you the farthest down before you have to walk. When you're riding chair 1 look up Bentley's to figure out how long your walk will be.
"Thin cover" means no GS turns down Skyline or the chair 4 groomers if you care about your equipment. It also means bring your rock skis IMHO.
Please recall that it was a pleasant surprise that Baldy had adequate cover after that December week that was at least half rain. That base was adequate but not deep. So a dry SoCal month will take out most everything sun exposed. Only the shaded core area of Thunder can be expected to hold up into February if it remains warm and dry.
