We've been hearing about this on-again, off-again story for years now, but it's finally been approved. The good news for skiers is that the Highmount trails will be bought by the state and connected to Belleayre.

That is good news.. I could do without the golf course and the home building..

Thanks for the link. Looks like a good example of practical politics.

Some decent trade-offs with the resort footprint limited, more lands protected but they get a connector run to the hills (without maintenance $) to enhance year round biz and to hook into a sewage plant. The original plan sounds like it sprawled a bit much when reducing housing by 30%, hotel rooms by 7.5% and nixing a 2nd golf course reduces new roads by 60% :!:
