Powder day!

Anywhere from 4" to boot top deep to depending on aspect. Upper mtn lifts not open except chair 6. So t-bar & imperial and falcon should have pow on Sunday.(if they open). Snowing fairly heavily and windy up top right now (true white out at times). E chair and interconnect have had the best skiing. I was third guy into the windows as patrol opened it just as I got there. Time to go get some more!

James, this could have been another pow day for you
One day at Breckenridge, and all my hard-earned street cred goes right out the window. :-"

And I had always attributed your street cred to posting pictures of pretty girls in your TR's.

So It turns out I was wrong in my initial report. The best snow was on chair 6, which despite the long lines held boot top to knee deep powder all afternoon. Of course they were just opening it as I hit lunch, and sure didn't hurt that it snowed heavily right up until closing. I'd guess at least 8" and probably more fell during the day (on top of the reported 7" in the am report). While the falcon eventually did open, I stuck to 6 all afternoon since the snow was so good there.

Assuming the t-bar and imperial open those should be prime having not opened in several days now. I'll be over at copper myself (prop a similar story there).

Being a single on a crowded day I got to have a number of interesting conversations including with a Brit who now works on audio for apple, and eventually day trippers from Denver... of whom the shortest drive time I heard was 4 hours!

I didn't take a lot of pics since it was mostly white room all day, but did get a couple during a short lull. They're not on the new mobile though so maybe Sun night.

Didn't you say that you weren't buying a season pass this year to any of the Summit joints? What's your discount method?

I did buy a 4 pack to Copper; and have friends in low places at Breck... As in, employees get a handful of discount 'family & friends' vouchers each season. Which works fine when I'm only going to do a couple days up there. If I was able to make it up a lot then the pass would be a better and cheaper option, obviously...

I did a very cursory survey of ski areas last night, and Breck continues to have a banner season. 58 inches in the past week. Impressive when so many regions have been quite dry this month.

While Breck has a long history of over-reporting, between my friends in low places and I on-hill this week, can attest that the 58" this week is real. To the point that I can't recall the south facing double diamonds off the Peak 8 interconnect chair ever looking as well covered or skiing so well as Saturday... Frequently they are either horribly scratchy and/or frozen bumps or just slush.

Last Tuesday, as we were walking to the car after skiing a legitimate 16 inches at Loveland, my brother got a call from a friend who was returning from Breckenridge. My brother said, "we heard that you guys got 26 inches!" His friend started laughing and said that it was 12, 14 inches tops, after which he made a few overreporting jokes.

Interesting, since my friend was on skis (partially) and having to shovel and otherwise move it around to which he said it was probably over 30" (at least where he was on the hill)... Breck is a windy place so I wonder if the two of them were on entirely different parts of the mtn that day...

There are plenty of times Breck reports 10" and my friend will end up saying maybe 4" tops, etc... So I wonder about that particular day's disconnect.
