Bretton Woods - 5/04/03

I had breakfast at Pollys Pancake Parlor, which opened for the season yesterday.

Then I drove up to the Notch to pay my respects to the Old Man. Took a couple pictures, but there's nothing there; not much to look at. At least the Eaglet is still standing.

Then I headed over to the Cog, and stopped to take this picture of the morning grooming, about 8:30AM, at Bretton Woods. Looks like they're pushing snow around with the blade to make at least a snowcat-wide path between the remaining snow patches.

Someone else will have to fill in the story about how it was at BW today, and how much longer they plan to operate. If I'd got off Mt. W. earlier, I would have like to take a few cruisers at BW before going home, but it didn't happen.

lftgly, i should have put this out there sooner but if you are gonna plan to go back there or if anyone else out there wants it who might hit bretton before they close, e mail me your address and i will send you my bretton/cannon season pass in the mail... i do not think i am getting it again next year, unless cannon revises some of their polices on the late season. joegm@gis.net

sorry guys, but BW is closed since sunday
So in east, there is just Superstar (Bittersweet is now Closed, as Skye Hawk) and there is West 70 at St-So, weekends only. Who will close last... good question. I think K will try to open until may 19, just to be the last, as St-So expect to close on may 18. Comparing the pics of last 3-4 years, I don't think they could open longer than that without walking 50% of the trail. (except if it snows or if it's less than 60 degrees for few days of course !!)

Hey Lftgly, super report, for Airplane / Pipeline ! Hope I had a mountain like that near here ;)
