I skined up burke yesterday. The lifts are not open until Friday (to the public) but the poma was open for racers, on the training hill. The training hill looked in great shape (always first with the snowmaking) but I was looking for powder. There was about 6-8" of new since the last mixed event on top of a very firm and even base of about 6 or more inches. The base covered almost all rocks and with the new on top it skied very well. The base, even though firm, is thin and with the lifts open won't last long. Hope they get a big dump for Christmas!
For the record, snowmaking was taking place on the west side of the mountian.
