superbowl sunday two-fer. i think that about sums it up and there's not much more to say about that.

okay what the hell, details forthcoming. last year the crowd was not bad at all. probably because it was a horrible snow year and the pats were in the super bowl. this year is the exact opposite... great snow year and two teams people around here could care less about. lift lines were still quite short! longest i've ever seen them, but longest i waited for a chair was about 2-3 minutes. cannon staff did an excellent job filling every sit and directing traffic in the corals. tram was a one tram wait in the AM, no wait later in the day.

conditions started off as a groomers paradise. almost the entire mountain has been groomed and the AM snow was hard, fast, edgable, and mostly enjoyable.

that lasted about 2 hours. by 11, good snow required some looking for. i found it on rocket skier's right in the form of soft loose snow with occasional bump.

bumps were limited to only four trails. skier's right of zoomer had decent snow on the edges of the bumps (zoomer had bumps on the right side half way down only). avalanche also had nice soft snow on the edges of the bumps which had been left skier's right below the banshee cut thru. paulie's as previously reported has monster hard pack bumps, and was no fun at all. middle hard was just evil. scraped, ice, rocks, you name it.

i took one run down mittersill on barron's. this was excellent 2-3 weeks ago, but suspect today. taft's bumps have gotten a lot bigger and firmer with occasional scratch. barrons has occasional decent bumps, but is very skied off since my epic glory run down it 3 weeks ago.

things went from bad to worse quickly on many trails. heavy traffic and lack of recent snow fall combined with people skiing over their heads and side slipping snow off to make for scraped everywhere. particularly suspect were skylight, taft slalom, upper hard, by pass, banshee lift (which i straight lined i felt so unconfident in turning), zoomer lift, and extension.

profile held up particularly well throughout the day. rocket down skier's right was incredible. red ball had natural snow and earned my one and only "WHOO!" exclamation for the day. i mean, it wasn't 'that' good, but it was natural snow on that type of day so it felt way better than it should have. skier's left on lower hard had some fun natural, wish i found that stash sooner. gary's was nice too. avalanche on the edges was nice, except near the top which featured rocks and ice (yea, not that scraped stuff, i mean ice). *slide*

given the super bowl sunday two fer and no major snow in about 3 weeks, i got about what i was expecting. cannon has everything but the tramline open with an excellent base depth, but needs a dump bad. although i must say i've been spoiled this year so far cause it was still better than some days at cannon last year, lol. no pics today.
