Cannon 12/7 - WOW!

I went up to Cannon today, and had what was (with about 5 colorado & 1 Utah trip under my belt) quite literally THE BEST SKI DAY I HAVE EVER HAD!!!!!!!!

Cannon had 24-ish inches when I got there about 8:45. Snowing HEAVILY. The Peabody quad was running, and some little lift. Trails: 6. Lifts: 2.

Immediately we began ducking ropes, and heading over to the Zoomer side. Was the 8th track down Avalanche!!!!!!!!!! 8th track on a wide, steep trail in more than 2 feet of beautiful fresh. Simply amazing. Mere words can't convey that.

The best part? Zoomer lift was closed, so there was a short hike back to the quad, and that kept most of the skiers there off the Front Five. I just did laps on the Front Five all day long, logging something like 15 total....

15 runs down Cannon's Front Five, all blanketed in 24-32+ (by the end of the day) of Fresh Powder. Light Powder. Beautiful Powder. Very few other people there. Fresh, untracked snow every run.

This is the first time that I've actually had to time my breathing so that I breath out when I drop my knee in the turn. I learned that lesson pretty fast . Face Shots constantly. On the backside of a few steep knolls on the trail, I couldn't see anything except snow on my goggles for a second or two.

Temps were great, hovering around 20 all day, snowing all day, no wind, and the Front Five weren't even windswept!!!

NICE! great report ben! zoomer lift and the entire front face will be open tomorrow! woo!

i was gonna hit up cannon today, but there was so much snow i couldn't move my car! beverly, ma is weighing in at 32"+, insane! work is called off for tomorrow, so i'll be at cannon on monday!

if any of you other no-bull'ers are gonna be there, i'll have a blue parka and black pants black helmet on. and i'll be skiing volkls, but you probably won't be able to see them!!!!

Awesome report dude. After ducking ropes yesterday at Stowe with 12-24 untracked from earlier in the season, I know what you are talking about...but I'm sure today was in the ridiculous range.

No wind at Cannon? During a storm? I had friends come back from Jay saying everything was on wind hold except for some of the lower insignificant lifts. With the wind in Burlington, I can't imagine Stowe was able to run their gondi...but who knows.

Go get it everyone...December 7th will go down as probably one of the best powder days in northeast history...Especially with widespread reports of 30-40+ inches.

-Scott
