Every Christmas Day, Cannon closes to give the State Park employees some quality time with their families (except for the snowmakers and groomers, who work their regular shift).
There was an undrecast in the valleys, which never lifted - in town, we never saw the sun all day. But up on the mountain, above theclouds, it was a blue-bird day in the twenties, with warm sunshine melting snow & ice off the chairlifts and towers.
