Chic-Choc in July ?

I was wondering if any of you have already skied the Chic-Choc in july ? <BR> <BR>On my side, with the enough good snow season they got in Gaspesia (it looked like that) and with the not so warm spring + early summer, I more and more consider to go there ! (of course, I would call before to be sure there is still some white stuff) <BR> <BR>I would leave on july 8, after my term ends (same date than Joegm for Blackcomb !!) <BR> <BR>One of the Skivt-lers (thanks Jon !) sent me some pics of Mt Albert on mid-july 2000. That was a really bad snow year in Quebec (like 2001-02) and some big hot rains destroyed a big amount of snow in the beginning of the month. Despite of all, I'm sure there was enough long to bring a Lftgly on the mountain (lol). <BR> <BR>2000, july 9-12 <BR><IMG SRC="http://www.firsttracksonline.com/discus2/messages/8/2537.jpg" ALT="One of the multiples bowl of Mt Albert, I imagine"> <BR> <BR>The only time I went there, it was in 95, after another really bad snow year in southern QC­ (don't know for Gaspesia), but with a pic I received yesterday, I can show you about what was remaining, that year, on <B>mid-july</B> (I must find the exact date !) This is the view from the "Gîte du mont Albert", so there was probably some good snow in the multiple big bowls on the top of the mountain. <BR> <BR><IMG SRC="http://www.firsttracksonline.com/discus2/messages/8/2538.jpg" ALT="how it looked like about"> <BR> <BR>I'm almost sure there was more than 5 large snowtracks, but no place to draw some other ones. It looked like at least 1000' high. The mountain tops only nearly 4000' but with the latitude and the north faces, it really holds the snow ! <BR> <BR>Anyone of you have some comments or pics to sent us. We should begin the FTO no-bullers july annual ski day ! lololol

And finally, this is the main reason why I should try the place ! (ok, I admit this is not in july) <BR> <BR><IMG SRC="http://www.firsttracksonline.com/discus2/messages/8/2539.jpg" ALT="hey... what do you want more ? god bless Chic-Chocs"> <BR> <BR>I know it's simply not necessary to add anything else, but I just want to say that the year temperature average on top of Mt Albert is 24 degrees Farenheit, with 9 months considered like winter.
 
Patrick, I'm actually taking contact with a guide in the Chic-Choc mountain. He told me this year was an exceptionnal one and that it should possibly remains some great stuff in mid-july. <BR> <BR>Unfortunately, the pic showing the white couloirs in summer (north side) is a place not allowed for skiing. He told me that's it's possible to have a permit during winter, but not after... (he already got a 75$ fine for that) <BR> <BR>He thinks the north side of Mt Logan could be a better place and he's going to check.
 
Frank, could you please keep us informed on what he finds? <BR> <BR>I have been busy with other stuff the last couple of weeks, but if you would like, I have a few other good pics to scan (SundayRiver - very late May94?, Mt.Washington same time, Killington mid-june). I have some other pics of K's May skiing on Cascade (86-87), but these are more pictures of my friends and me skiing - so I am not considering posting those.

I thought to see there was a video on the Chic-Chocs ?? <BR> <BR>I'm eager to see that ! (despite I'm thinking : is it the video of Jim Crowley ? if yes, I've already seen it... oops !)
 
It's Crowley's video, but totally reproduced. Keep in mind that it was filmed at the end of April.
 
I've finally been able to download the video, after stopping download problems. (it's sure that the T1 (or more) of the university helped me a lot. <BR> <BR>Really great job, Marc ! (for post-editing + thanks to Jim of course !) Scenes and runs are really nice to see ! There was also many couloirs that should remain skiable really late in season, I think ! Is the Gros Morne on the Newfoundland Island or into Labrador ?
