Current Greek Peak conditions from Acid Christ

For the 4th time in the last 5 weeks I got a message from Acid Christ (texted from the lift at GP) that the conditions are the worst ever. Today I got that same message, only worse.

He says...if you can ski this, you can ski anything. It's that bad.

It has rained substantially this week. The ground is just oozing. I am imagining torrents of water flowing down the solidly firm slopes at GP.

It should all freeze up pretty well tonight and for the rest of the week. This weekend there's a small hope that the 40 degree sunshine will soften the surfaces for some kind of minor corn harvest. It's the best we can hope for right now.

Still praying for that big end of season dump. We'll need a lot because the ground is just saturated. Anything less than 6" will just turn to soup. If only I believed in a god, I'd be praying to it now. I'm just praying in general that something will happen in terms of skiable precipitation...call it wishing....wishing hard.

Yep... rain everywhere, even up in the Eastern Townships, where Mont Orford axed lift ops today. Gotta love the franglish:

To preserve the quality of good snow conditions still prevailing, we will not be in operation today. Activities will resume tomorrow. Have a good day!

Temps up there tomorrow will be -10 to -13C... should be lovely. #-o

Yup , Our out door hockey rink is done for the season as gale force winds cranking away with temperatures just above freezing following heavy rains . Flash freeze on the way  The best we can hope for this weekend is softening up of the surfaces if the sun comes out and the winds don't blow out of the north .

Sharon, I just returned from a trip to New Mexico. I got in two days at Santa Fe, and two at Taos. Looks like I don't have much to come home to. I was expecting as much. It appeared the timing of my trip was off also as it was near 80 degrees in Santa Fe when I arrived. Santa Fe had not had any precipitation since December 26th. The conditions on the mountain weren't too bad considering. We made a trip to Taos to do other things than ski. We checked out some art galleries, walked across the gorge bridge, and had lunch. Afterwards we took a drive up to the resort just to check it out. I must say, the sight of two black dimonds directly in front of the lodge was quite intimidating. Later I was told some people have been known to turn tail and run at this sight. There is no obvious easy way down looking up at the mountain. Appearances can be deceiving. There seemed to be quite a few cars in the lot for a midweek day also, I forgot about Spring Break #-o I returned to ski there a few days later. They recieved 20" in a three day stretch, 11 the day and night we first visited, 3 the night before my first day, 6 the night prior to my second day. It was amazing. I can see now why you had so much trouble returning to our "mole hill" after your trip to Utah, and that was when conditions at Greek were good. I think my season at Greek may be done. A buddy of mine is talking a trip to Killington some time this Spring. I talked to him from Taos, he was quite discouraged. I told him to keep the faith, I've skied Stowe on Easter Sunday in April, 10 degrees at the summit, a foot of fresh powder on the hill, in April \:D/ we shall see. As far as Greek goes, I think I would be disapointed even if it were in great shape. Can you say speed bump. I'll post some pics when I get home, I'm at my sister's in NYC, I'm catching a bus to Bingo this morning.
