Hi guys !

Since last year, there is a bunch of you that tried to convince me to go to Cannon... well, THE day could be in the next weeks.

I must say that it's impossible for me to go midweek... so I guess a sunday would be a better choice than saturday.

I would like to have ± all the trails open (it's ok if Tramline trail is closed) and with access possible and decent to Mittersill, so I can wait until another good storm (which could be possible something like next weekend, according to the loooooong term GFS).

I would really like to try the mountain with a couple+ of you if possible, to meet you and discover some of the paradise you always describe in this mountain.

Marc knows that it's miraculous to make me accept to cross the borders, but I'm ready for an attempt this time !

I'm also planning a trip to Tuckerman Ravine in early april, hopefully with a gang of Zoneski... and why not a gang of FTO (Or a gang of both like Patrick and Max)

Well, give me some news about it and I hope to see you in few weeks. The last weekend of february or the first of march could be some interesting choices, but I don't know if those weekends are very crowded ususally, in USA ?

frank! good to hear you'll be making a trip to cannon! i'm available for making turns any weekend, so just pick a date! i think it would be super cool for a bunch of FTO'ers to meet up for some cannon/mittersill goodness. it's not like we'll be giving away any good lines to any one, i think most of us knows where the goods are. heh!

you probably won't be able to hit cannon up 100% open this year, unless we get two huge storms. tramline is still looking stupid bare and cancat mentioned the pipes are fux0r3d, so by pass opening is entirely dependent on lots of natural. i'd guess even kinsman glade opening this season "officially" may be doubtful... but it'll all probably be skiable unofficially, lol.

Frank I would love to take you around Cannon, however, I wont be here for the weekends of 21-22 or the weekend of the 29-1 as I will be in Colorado and New Mexico. If you do come up any other weekends besides those make sure and let me know.

porter

Hi Riverc0il and Salida !

For the trip, I still don't know exactly the dates (I will check that with my father too cause it's a christmas gift and he wants to be on the trip ! hehe) (not necessary to ski with me though)

For the conditions, effectively, a journalist of here went last week at the mountain and posted a pic of a trail which was closed (may be Paulie's ?... I don't know) and it looked like the snow cover was really limited on the mountain

Anyway, I can wait up to march before to go, there is no problem with that.

I really hope to ski Mittersill... cause I begin to seriously love to ski in the lost ski areas :D

Today, I skied to 4 ski areas :

1 alive
1 future
2 lost

Not so bad

I may post a report + pics later !

Frank-
Yes, count me in, too. I'm making my first trip West in 9 years next week. I'll be in CO 2/21-29, but I'm planning on having an epic March ski season in New Hampshire.

Since I live in an Eastern ski town, and I'm foolishly paying big bucks to go on a ski vacation out West, it's a good bet that NH will get a foot or two of snow as soon as I board the plane in Manchester. Hopefully it will remain until I get back!

How about an FTO Cannon weekend March 6-7?

I just discovered two-for-one coupons in a NH 2003-2004 Visitors Guide - I'll try to clip a bunch (unless Nat will give us an FTO group rate!).

Email me at jhall@ncia.net if you head south.

-Jon

Too bad for you Marc (for that weekend at least).

I must admit that I know at the last minute generally if I work during the weekend or not, but up to now, I've not worked often the weekend, so march 7 (the sunday I guess) could be a very interesting day for "Cannoning".

Clip the 2-fers!!! You can't beat 'em and they won't be back next year - somebody forgot to include the restrictions! OOPS!!! The only time they won't honor them is vacation week.

Let me know the weekend - I'll see if I can join you!

Galen Doscher
Cannon Mtn Park Cutter

the book lftgly is refering to has ballons on the cover and is available at the NH likker store on I93. just found these babies after i overheard a conversation at the summit building last week! should be spending a lot of time at cannon in march! no kidding about the lack of restriction dates... OOPS!

Frank, I might be able to make it in March (we could use one car), however March 6-7 would be hard. Morgane last ski lesson at Vorlage (near Ottawa, ON) is on March 6.

Patrick, I talked with my father and it would be more March 7 (with departure on march 6 evening)

We would just ski one day.

It could be interesting to take you on our minivan... 7 places is perfect for a trip with 3-4-5 persons. A sure thing, it would be nice to ski with you !!

Looks like this weekend could be a great date to meet us all (even Salida will be back from Colorado !) I just hope that Mother Nature will collaborate and give us 3' of snow before that
