Greek Peak New Years Eve morning

3" at 6am and it was still dumping at 1-3" per hour, so I emailed work and told them I'd be in at noon. I think they expect that, plus, it isn't very busy during the holidays anyway.

The drive was slow and there were a lot of cars off the road. I didn't get on the lift until 9am. There was plenty of untracked snow. My favorite line on eleysian fields was untracked, so I headed right over. Dark side of the Moon was playing on my Mp3 player.

Unfortunately, the firm and crunchy base was just 6 light and fresh inches below and kept that run from being as sweet as it could be. Lower angle trails will be the softest and smoothest.

So the next run I went over to Iliad. There were some leftover freshies there for me as well and it was much floatier.

The front side was getting tracked up so I went over to the east side. I saw Acid Christ and "Cliff" doing patrol work. They said they left some for me over on Mars Hill. So I spent the next hour over there.

There was no base in the woods and on areas that recieved no snowmaking. The thaw took a toll on Arethusa.

Amy called me from Salt Lake City to wish my a Happy New Year. I had my headset on and took the call while skiing. I skied a whole run of fresh snow while talking to her. That was kinda cool.

Nice! Those holiday crowds look awful.

yeah, it was brutal...y'know, skiing right onto the lift and having whole slopes to myself

but what ended my day was when people did show up and it did get busy around 11. Ski racing clinics took over my reserves of freshies. I headed back over to the east side and a lift line was forming and the parking lot was filling. I figured it was time to go and I could be at my desk by noon, relaxing and eating my lunch.

A mellow blue like Mars Hill would definitely be a good place to be on a day like that. I've always had fun in the Alsos Trees, but I assume there isn't enough cover?
