Hillmans Hwy was great on Mother's Day!

See rivercoil's excellent "50! Gulf of Slides, NH: 05/11/08" trip report for a description of the weather and snow conditions. Over on the other side of Boote Spur, I was also enjoying day #50.

The Left fork was still skiable, though hanging on by a thread. Right fork is still quite full. I skied the variation line that connects from Right, and down the middle into the Left fork.

Could only skin up from the winter Lions Head (Huntington fire trail) junction.

Skiing down the Sherburne, had to take skis off 3 times, and step across some grass a few times. Still able to ski down to the top crossover, near the Cutler River bridge, then hike down from there.

Nice pics, still looks like it will be decent for awhile. I should have done Hillman's when I was up there in April 1990.

Interesting, since you can see in the background that Wildcat is completely gone.

There is still snow on Wildcat. Particularly the upper mountain trails in shaded areas. Not enough snow to make hiking for turns worth while and definitely nothing continuous for more than a few hundred feet tops. Cannon has much more coverage than Wildcat currently and Attitash has an astonishing amount of snow based on views from Gulf of Slides this past Sunday.
