Another cloudy, foggy Sunday morning turned into another beautiful Sunday afternoon!

After being lured to Gorham on false pretenses, and finding out what I thought was going to be a local backcountry ski adventure was actually a bushwack hike to a 3000' footer, I ditched my so-called "friends" (LOL) and headed to Pinkham Notch on my own. I'm sure you guys had a great hike, but I had a great hike and two great ski runs!

The Tuckerman Ravine hiking trail was still snow covered most of the way up. Unfortunately the Sherburne isn't, and the USFS has officially closed it. Not satisfied to merely "rope it off", they had set up a pretty solid defense at the top, where Boot Spur Link trail crosses the Sherburne. I think they had two rows of fences, strung across the trail and into the woods either side, plus a line of criss-crossed bamboo for extra emphasis. It was almost worth taking a picture. They really mean business. God help us if they ever start closing the Ravine like that.

Enough narrative, we all want to see the pictures!

The Bowl from HoJos

Hillmans from HoJos

Looking up Hillmans, part way up

Looking down Hillmans from the fork

Skier descending top pitch of Hillmans (right fork)

Tele-goddess meditating at top of Hillmans

My favorite pitch - I had to go back up and ski it a second time!

The wind was howling up there, probably 50-60MPH plus on the summits. Luckily the sun was warm, and the snow softened up just right (no GLOP here!), not too heavy.

Winters hanging on up there. As of this morning, the OBS has totaled 29", darn close to the 30.9" April average for Mt. W.

I'm looking forward to May!
