Homemade snow machine?

I made a gun and snowmaking system using garden hosing and an air compressor. Never got to test it though. The winter I made it we didn't see much weather that would be appropriate for snowmaking. I've had plenty of dreams of doing what those kids did but definetly didn't have land for such a project. I used to look at this hill outside of my town and think that would be a fun place for a nice little ski hill. Theres a couple of housing developments on it now. Oh well maybe someday my dream will come true like it did for the kids who made polar peak. Until then I'll keep paying to ski at the big resorts or heading out into the backcountry with my skins.

I've had one for awhile now. I made it about 5 years ago, started out as the typical air water gun, then added the nuc nozzle and the high pressure water. It is neat thing to have, people will drive by and just stare  .I've ran it only a few times this year here in albany, getting older I'm not haveing as much time to do it anymore. Looks like I it may get cold enuff tommorw so we will see what happens. There are lots of websites out now about home snowmaking and so on. When I started there was just two a guy from utah and one from PA.If you need any detailed questions I can try to find answers for you.

Yeah, I've got one question: how do I get from Loudonville to your house? The way this winter's going, those may be the only turns I get for a few weeks!

Lets see well, I actully live there so its not to far away  . If I had any sort of hill I'd let you be all over that but unless you liek cross country for about 20ft then I'd say stay away lol.

Yes, a long time ago in grammar school science class. IIRC it is important when you introduce the water spray to the de-compressing air to get the "snow" to freeze asap as it exits the nozzle. It also helps to spray the water/air nozzle up in the air for as long as possible to give the "snow" an additional chance to freeze.
