Yesterday, I went to Mt Alta with Christophe (from Zoneski) and we skied the slopes most of the afternoon, with our super summer skis.

It was only my 2nd time with these skis, so it's sure I'm not an expert, but I'm getting better enough fastly !

Here is a video. It's now compressed, so it's only 1,28 megs for 28 seconds of run down ;)

A little pic with that... but I recommend to take a look to the video to see more the speed that you can reach on a "not so steep" hill

Hi NHPH !

Same boots as "winter" ski boots

The bindings are just like the snowblades bindings

For the vertical, we did 7 runs down, so...

Our first runs were only something like 30-40' high on a very flat trail

But the run you've seen there should be about 80' high...

Our last run was over 350' of vertical, as we skied from the 2/3 up the mountain to the base.

Of course, the grass needs to be clean enough, but it's not necessary to be a golf course grass neither.

(be sure to avoid the rocks (OUCH I will remember that one !))

You can see some pics of our very first time (on a TINY hill near my house) here :

It's not some expensive equipment.

It's way less expensive than equipment for winter skiing...

But if I say more, Christophe will have to kill me... (just like for those who talk too much of the secret tree runs)...

Skiing every month in the east has never been easier than now :)

But I must say that it's extremely extreme... especially when the runs are not made for grass skiing !

The beginner trails for snow skiing become some expert runs and the intermediates become extreme runs. If you try some expert / extreme snow skiing trails, you're just too much crazy for me !

Looks challenging. I've found with inline skates that the limiting factor in making it "ski-like" is the lack of a controlled skidding action. I'm sure these are similar.

Within a month of the hopeful first tracks !!!

For eastern Quebec it may be much, much sooner than that...

The first turns / runs I did with these skis were more or less looking as some ski turns, but in the last runs I did sunday, I was beginning to get some feelings close to some real skiing on snow.

So even though it's not some real skiing, the feeling is enough similar to make it quite great !

About the first tracks, last year I got mine on october 20. I don't expect to ski (on snow) earlier this year and it would be a big chance if I was able to ski in october once again.

They forecast a lot of precipitations in the night of saturday to sunday.

It's a big problem considering that our "cutting the grass day" at Alta is saturday and there could be some rain :(:(:(:(

It's planned for 2 months and the only rainy day in 3 weeks will be the exact wrong one ! DOH !

Anyway, would be cool to see some snow :)
