Jay Peak May 3rd Last Day

Got the message for free skiing for kids at Jay and screw the soccer . So this is what we did , passed up on a Exhibition soccer game ( indoors ) and headed to Jay for one last kick at the can. 2 runs open today ( Jet / Haynes ) . The temperature at the base was 61 F with soft snow as sky conditions consisted of filtered sunshine through passing dark clouds. Could have used more sun but skiing was fine as enough sunlight to get rid of the flat light .

Well that is it for this year , Thanks to Jay for the free kids tickets.

Lucky Luke and his kids were supposed to be back today. We all had great fun yesterday. $39 for a 2-day lift ticket and free for kids...ain't nothing wrong with that. Great marketing and catering to the family and kids to enjoy May skiing. Don't listen to Tony, kids love it.

My son Sam and I were there both days this weekend. Sunday was nice and and we were glad the sun wasn't hiding behind clouds for the whole day. Saturday was the better day if you wanted to cruise instead of crush bumps. Sunday was bumped up wall-to-wall on Jet. I don't normally seek out bumps but even I had fun in them Sunday. My son was hammering them pretty good, too. It's the best he's ever skied in the bumps. I was surprised at how much snow disappeared between Friday and Sunday afternoon. Visible differences on Can-Am even though it wasn't open. I did see three skiers coming down Can-Am just after 4:30 in the afternoon on Sunday. It wasn't continuous top to bottom but it still looked pretty good. I'm looking forward to going back next season. We only skied Jay three times this winter, not including this past weekend.

The run on the mountain on Saturday. Creamy turns.

Top to bottom (200ft from the car) without removing our skis (Ok, we skied over grass on the flats). Lucky Luke and I made Can-Am our last run of the day. He convinced the kids that they should come along to ski Can-Am...so I'm willing to bet the 3 skiers were Lucky and his two kids.

Could've been. I bet the snow was nice up there. I asked my son if he wanted to hike over and he saw the rope at the top of the chair with the "closed" sign and he said "no thanks". It's hard to tell a kid it's OK to break the rules when you raise them to follow the rules. Now, walking up from the bottom would've been a different story for him. I don't think his legs were up to any more hiking this weekend after going up to Tuckerman's on Thursday.

Yes, the more advanced kids do like the bumps, and they looked pretty good. Looks like somebody's skis were about to get a beating in that last pic though.

Not many rocks...mostly grass on the lines I choose between the snowpark hit left at the bottom of Can-Am. A lot less damage from where the kids brought us on Derricks.

The 3 of us we're on rock skis so we didn't care about beating 'em! But no major damage anyway. The kids we're really stoked on skiing grass. My daugther was screaming in front of the ski patrols that she skied the closed run. One of them said: ''Yeah, I saw them heading there'' [-(

Frustration from last week at Sunday River when the patrol said..."where are going with those kids?" as they are heading to a rope off trail? :o

Did you see those guys boarding over the grass on the Jet yesterday :) they even managed to jump the ditch . A lot more fun skiing the Jet /Haynes combo in May than November . It's been said before but amazing how many people will show up in November to ski the arena ice with a low angle sun instead of 60 degree weather with soft snow , big bumps and a sunset way past closing time.
