First Turns, Baby!
\
/
I still can't believe I got first turns in this year two days sooner than last year, and with better conditions to boot!
Here is the summary: ~5" around the base area though consolidated by the time I left. Vermonter had ~8" average though it was hard to tell exact depths due to blowing and drifting. I think 8" is a good average, much of the trail had 1' deep snow, though that was the exception. I will call the range of total accumulation 5-8" but Jay would probably say 5-12" for perspective.
If you missed today, the snow on Vermonter isn't going any where today. It was cold on Vermonter with occasional flakes coming up over the ridge. But snow lower down and snow over on The Jet area is consolidating and melting fast. I would not count on top to bottom turns tomorrow but you never know!
Snow consistency was variable with a lot of wind slab, really hard to cut through with an edge... it was real firm. About an inch of dust on top of the slab on Vermonter, sweet! Man was it blowing at the summit, awesome!
Game On!

*I am still working on getting those roll overs working for earlier versions of Internet Explorer. I know, no excuse, but at least it is functional.
