Welcome Back Winter.

on and off rain up I-89 and over 5/100/101/etc. with occasional wet flakes mixed in. got through the commerce division of the town of jay and things started getting interesting heading up 242!! all of a sudden, sticky wet white stuff everywhere. i passed two cars from maryland that couldn't make it up the slick road. looks like jay peak had someone at the lower tram entrance at the dirt road pushing people that way. i doubt AWD/4WD vehicles without snow tires could even make it up 242 that morning. i made it no problem thanks to the snows. i got quite excited granted how hard it was coming down, but it was only a small storm of wet flakes, about two inches. great snow for base building! it was great seeing jay peak covered in white even if there was no snow to be seen any where else once the clouds cleared.

best weekend skiing at jay since october. finally! it was an interesting mix to start the morning. the base was wet from yesterday's rain and the snow was fairly wet as well, though occasionally powdery in some places. the jet was a mixed bag sporting loose wet snow that glopped up and formed random small bumps later in the day. perfect stuff for my 8000s to blast through though the scraped wet stuff under the fresh natural was leading me towards enjoying haynes more. haynes had more scratchy spots, but also the natural snow held out better and was a bit lighter. i hugged the trees down skier's right a whole bunch of times and really opened things up down lower on the flats. freaking sweet.

northway to angel's wiggle rounded out the stateside options with some fine carving. i wish northway skied like that all the time, not bad! lower section of angel's wiggle was sensational for edge to edge big carved arcs, freaking sweet.

i never got over to tram side, but i guess the freezer went down for a while. it was blowing damn hard. one of the chairs on the jet had a broken safety bar because the wind slammed it down hard as it came around the bull wheel i would guess. the snow stopped around noon and some nice views were had of the green and brown surrounding jay peak. looked like october all over again with the only snow visible at jay and nothing what so ever white in the distance.

unrelated to my trip report, went to the docs recently because we wanted to get a dog next year and i wanted to get checked out for any alergies (negative, woo hoo!). i mentioned that my respiration during exercise is terrible and he had me do some tests. the results were not significant enough to suggest athsma, but did indicate something wasn't quite right. got prescribed for a inhaler med for use during exercise and sure enough, i feel like a new skier. i don't remember the last time my legs gave out before my lungs did. still can't believe the difference, but i feel like a completely different skier. good stuff.

in other news, i finally got sick of my web host charging rediculous prices and not increasing bandwidth of disk space in over two years time, during a time in which tech has increased and the web has become all about video and photo sharing. so i switched up services and have some massive disk space and bandwidth. this is allowing me to post good size photos to my site and larger video. with the photo size increase, my old trip report style of mixing pics with the story wasn't going to work, so after trying to hack plogger apart to fit my needs, i gave up and tried the open source 'gallery' software. pretty sweet! i am still working on customization, i want to try to drop the slide show into my reports pages but need to read up more to see if it can possibly be done. any ways, here are pictures from today's outing. and here is the slide show option. once the DNS has propagated, i'll be making a few alterations to the main site as well.

happy holidays to all! i think santa is going to be good to us this week if today was any indication! lots of fun and a solid step in the right direction.

Bah, that is the most hilarious photo I have ever seen. Perfect avatar material. I rule.

Anyway, I love the new larger pictures. Awesome.

What the heck?! How do I save these images to my computer? The only one I can save is the last one in the album. I suck at computers. Riverc0il want to make me an awesome avatar? Hopefully it will properly portray my radness when in 100 X 100 form.

heh! i am actually still learning the gallery software and haven't figured this one out yet. pretty nifty way of preventing image theft though, lol. but that was not directly intended as i planned on deep sourcing gallery images to input the highlight picture directly into my TR's. i still have some studying to do. in the mean time, i will work on that avatar for ya when i get a chance, i am off to jay right now. i can email you the full pics if you want.

I got it myself in time. Now I just to need to make the file smaller so I can use it here too.

Thanks djangoski, I finally figured out how to do that after about 15 minutes of screwing around with Steve's website.

thanks for the assist, djangoski. just looked up the url rewrite info, quite cool! unless you know the url rewrite formula, forces a html link instead of a deep source. cuts back on bandwidth theft and also drives traffic to the site. i am loving this software and haven't even cracked the surface of its power and potential.
