Jay2/21 video

Sweet! Looks like you found the goods BBP. It was deep in there and your video brought me back to those moments when I was choking on the snow in there. That was truly awesome skiing.

It was good to see you there!

I bet! My camera didn't come out where it was the deepest and the best skiing because I was having skigasms and could not stop to operate the camera if I wanted to.

I saw a number of people with helmet cams. But sometimes you just have to live it instead of record it. Though I know that we want to show our friends how incredible it really was. Glad you got at it. Did you do Big Jay from the top of JP? or did you hike from the road? I was wondering if they changed their "policy" about it. I didn't see the big fence they put up last year.

My understanding is that this year you can do the hike from the top, but you can't ski the "scar", although I haven't been there this year to confirm that.

You can skin or snowshoe the ridge to Big Jay this season when snow conditions permit. Lots of people are hiking with boots right on the trail... so expect knee deep holes here and there right on the track!

The chute is closed up top with a single rope... but most tracks lead back to hit. Word is that it gets bumpy a few days after the last storm... But what can you expect when a bowl drains into this chute... and it's wide open! Of course people are going to ride it...

Meanwhile, right off the 242 and right next to the "oh so precious" conservation area there is some serious logging going on... but that is not on state land... so cutting everything isn't an issue... Lots of machinery in the woods below Big Jay this last couple of weeks... The trail back is suffering a lot from it... access is compromised...
