The lift is still ski-on/ski-off, but the top of Superstar required a ten foot walk, or gingerly sidestepping across thin cover on rocks.

Contrary to the ski report on the Kmart website, they had a second top-to-bottom route down Skylark-HighRoad-Bittersweet. It was complete mush by 10AM, thin cover in spots, but a nice diversion from the bumps on Superstar.

The top pitch of Skyehawk was also still skiable, all bumps, also requiring a short walk or sidestep over thin cover & rocks at the top.

All these pictures are Superstar.

Nice pix of our day out! Mr LftGly and I have known each other for many many years (possibly longer than some fellow readers have been alive!) and, like today, hook up to ski when we're able...and he can be talked off of Mt Washinton and onto a lift ;).

As you can see, Superstar has great classic spring bump conditions but, as many have noted, has much less cover than on this date in years past. Weather is a factor of course, but they really don't seem to have poured on the snowmaking as much this year. Granted there was lots of natural, esp. early/mid season, but it's the manmade that always seems to last the longest. To my memory, the years that have boasted the latest closing dates (esp. 6/1 and later) have not been particularly great natural snowfall years. They must know this so it's hard to figure the call, though we have seen the trend away from ASC pushing the early/late season envelope (witness Mt Snow closing again with excellent cover this year).

Memorial Day, never mind June, at Kmart looks like a long shot but, then again, we did have powder days in May last year so until the fat lady's tour bus appears in the parking lot we may as well enjoy it while we can!
