i have documented killington since 72. i try to post all my old ski diary mentions as much as possible-my father-who skied better areas like swiss alps and cervinia-st moritz-davos-innsbruk-maddonaa di campiglio-cortina-les arcs-ad infinium,in europe-wow! he still loved the big K <BR> <BR>always took me back to killington. i have nothing but high words for it- <BR>still-i recall skiing the killington pk requiring 3 sets of long underwear-and i had jet stix on my cheap boots.i pushed off into a wailing ice storm--amidst a 1000 other skiers on a frigid 10 degree day- <BR> <BR>i asked myself--my friend dave-and my father- <BR> <BR>what the f*** r we doing this for? <BR>its insanity.still--we managed a few runs then it was time for hot choclate in k's base lodge- <BR>i know they have a gondi going up there now---but man! those days toughened you up- <BR> <BR>if thats what you are seeking ----kmart can and will deiver! <BR> <BR>this is not for the faint hearted people- <BR> <BR>brian o

while there are things about k that annoy, to say the place sucks is ridiculous... it's the only place that has the balls to spin lifts during the best time to ski... april AND MAY. it' has essentially unlimited water for blowing fake... it offers season passes that are a steal for a 7 month season, no one else even comes close to spinning that long, even in monster years... it has bumps, steeps, flats, high end parks and jibs, and some forest.. if it's lacking anything it's the forest... it's got relatively easy access and lots of lifts.... does it have the character of the cat or stowe.. no.. but to say it sucks is just silly... if the goal is to ski 10 days a year, at christams , feb vaca and long weekends, k is probably not the place .. if the goal is to ski as much as possible, k's not a bad option... not to cause any trouble, but if u want to talk about a place that sucks , let's talk about the most expensive daily ticket in the east and the flatest most groomed, boring ass mountain around.. stratton!!!!! why anyone would go to that place and spend big money is beyond me... come to think of it, i don't think i would go there if it was for free.. falling asleep on your skis could be dangerous... all you need to know about stratton is that it is where ski magazine runs some of the crooked ski tests for their annual propaganda piece for the ski companies that try and sell you skis with integrated bindings for $1200 bucks and tell you it's gonna make you ski better... they like "testing" out those $1200 dollar bmw's on perfectly groomed flat terrain.ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!!!!!!!!!!

It's fun to see this comment of Joegm and to compare it to the ones in mid-may while the Superstar seems to miss some snow... or when they're not open yet, on november 1. hihihi... just teasing ;)

seriously joe you bash killington in october because they won't waste half a million dollars to blow snow so you can go ski for a day and <FONT COLOR="ff0000">•••••</FONT> about lift ticket prices but once they are open you love them again, how long until he starts whining about superstar not being open so he can ski on july 4th???

(I recognize the "Anonymous" just above !!) <BR>it should be quite funny for you, Anonymous, to see Joegm give good points on Killington... lol

PS... the word with red points in the post of Anonymous is b!tch (if it helps to understand the post) <BR> <BR>it's always this word that I use to make some red points ! hihihi

that's right...i'm back, it is very funny to see someone turn around so quickly and back up a place they were bashing so heartily just a few weeks ago

That was then and this is now, but rightly so. Kmart/ASC turned their back on over a quarter century of early season tradition that celebrated the heart and soul of New England skiing, all because of bad business decisions that resulted in a coup by the the bean counters. One can either lament it or be a corporate apologist, but the bottom line (so to speak) is they can't expect to do that and not be called on it. Get over it. <BR> Oh, and you asked how long until someone points out that they aren't open as late as they could be? That would be five (5) months. Glad ta help.

Ebonymous, sorry, it will probably be around 2-3 months, when people start bitching that superstar only has 14 or 15 feet of snow on it in march instead fo 20 <BR> <BR>glad to clarify

Wow... I think that I've never seen a thread with so much different people in it... there is even at least 3-4 anonymous ! lol <BR> <BR>It's funny to see all those commentaries pro-Killington, cause all the summer long, it looked like all the comments were negatives. I guess it's because 90-95% of the summer chatters love to ski very early and very late in the season... <BR> <BR>Effectively, if they don't seem to blow a lot of snow on Superstar in march, people will begin to complain here... that's sure. At least, people begin to understand that Killington won't be open in june this year, so the expectations begin to be less high...

anonymous oh, master of hyperbole... please put a little more thought into your posts... read the first line of my post... clearly, i was annoyed at k for the policy shift of only opening when it's top to bottom... i was not annoyed at k for not spending $500,000 so i could ski for a day.. don't attribute ridiculous statements/insinuations like that, to me... if you go back and read the posts, i did express concerns about the apparent shrinking of the season, but i made very clear my main concern was on the back end ( spring ). then you state that i complained about lift ticket prices. i know you don't mean that i complained that the prices charged by k were too high, right anonymous. becasue again , that would be another lie you posted.. i complained that the prices were too cheap and that maybe if they charged a little more, then they would have more revenue to justify making more snow. next we move to your statement ( lie #3 ) that i am upset that i can't ski superstar on july 4th... my only comment on that moronic statement will be , i'll ski a bump run for you on july 4th alright... from the blackcomb glacier. next you imply that i may be complaining in the near future that superstar only has 14 or 15 feet of snow in march instead of 20, LIKE IT HAS FOR EVERY YEAR FOR THE PAST 15 YEARS.... you are right, i will complain if that's the case, BECASUE I LIKE SKI IN MAY, and k has been perfectly willing to accomadate that in MANY MANY years past... what is your problem, man?....do you just not like bump skiers? oh i forgot, your the guy who "never had any problem " skiing bumps (every one who believes that, stand on your head now ) why does it bug you and annoy you so much that there are people who like to ski bumps in april and may and who like to make turns in november and wouldn't mind paying to do so?... why do you feel the need to post things and attribute and imply thoughts to people that are often baseless and EVEN MORE SO taken out of context? you make a simpleton statement that "killington sucks " and offer no reasons why... THE ONLY THING I HAVE EVER SAID SUCKS ABOUT K , IS/WAS LES OTTEN .. i put up that while there are things about k that bug me ( which i've gone over before ) , i also state, in my opinion, the things i feel k does well, which there are many. at this point anonymous, i don't care where you ski, what you ski, what you ski on or how many times you ski... just don't make stupid statements and attribute them to me... oh wait, i think i just figured it out, you must have bought the $1200 integrated x-sceamer phat boy ultra carve super wave 9.9999999 titanium overlay triaxle core skis and found out that they really don't make you ski better!!!! peace bro !!!!!!!

i recall taking air off a huge bump on cascades- <BR>the only thing longer than the skid marks on the snow--were the ones in my underwear!
