Killington re-opening?

I could have sworn I saw them saying that they were planning to open on November 11, but now all evidence of that seems to have been erased from their website. Weather.com says it's due to drop below freezing for several nights this week, so I'd guess that it'd be slightly colder than that particular forecast on the mountain itself... with a few days forecasted as showers (maybe some of that will be snow?). I came down with the flu on what appears to have been the most legendary October weekend ever, probably punishment from some kind of vengeful gods for my misdeeds. But to screw it up for me again this weekend? That is just cruel...

november 11th was their original opening date and they had indeed quoted that date for a reopening since last weekend. however i think it is fair to say the current weather forecast has effectively KO'd the early november ski season in new england. hopefully we'll see some colder air slide our way later in the month. :?

Since when is November 11th early november? :?

Sorry, I feel rant full  . Going to see a show in Montreal on the 15th and was definately thinking of going skiing while I'm there? Will I ski on the Monday the 14th? Killington? St.Sauveur? St.Bruno :? ?

Intially I though this was going to be not a problem, but i'm starting to have doubts.

Help me Powderfreak, is there anything positive in your crystal ball?

Anyone heard about killington opening on the 11th? I know it's been in the 50's there all last week making chances slim. I was wondering if anyone has heard "officially".

I wouldn't put my money on it this weekend. The weather just looks too warm this week and I'm sure basically all the snow they had a week ago is about gone. Though we had an awesome end of october things just got way too warm again to get the season going. I'm figuring I'm gonna be on my bike this weekend.

It's tough to accept the great tease mother nature gave us last weekend. Check out this photo of killington today. All grass, little or no snow left at all.

that's even worse than i would have guessed. certainly not having a complete thaw and frozen ground at higher elevations before the snow storm contributed to the very sudden disappearance of the snow. even the trails that were likely very packed down by high skier traffic are all but gone.

Killington already got shown up once in the early season, Wildcat was open before them. I don't think they will let it happen again. I agree with you Bob it will depend on what happens tonight and tomorrow in terms of precipitaiton and temperature.

Looks like mss is blowing snow today too.
I know that St.Sauveur, St. Bruno, Ste. Anne (all saints) are blowing snow.

So the normal start of the season in the East should start shortely. October was unfortunately an accident :D

Maybe if K should be become St. Killington???

Just started raining is Ottawa, it's suppose to change into wet flurries this afternoon. 15cm forecast in St. Sauveur (100 miles east, slightly more to the North).

Latest word is that Killington will not be making snow this week due to variable weather pattern. No opening this weekend (11/12-13). Maybe next week.

That sucks!

yeah it does stink.. but as much as i want to ski, i say keep it closed for another 2 weeks or so... and give it back on the end .. not spinning past may 15 th last year when they had top to bottom coverage on SS was a disgrace   ...

Got that right, but at this point it's likely not a question of one or the other. I too would trade a Thanksgiving opening for a Memorial Day+ closing in a heartbeat, but I don't think they'd come through on the deal.

I'm greedy...I want both.

I want both too, and according to killington's website, they should be open next week, temperatures will be dropping and they start blowing snow today.

There is a date out there...

That Mont St.Sauveur will open on monday the 14th. Now the question is, are they going to make it or beat it. Temps have been around freezing today and same is forecast for tomorrow.

If the're open, I might go as I have to be in Montreal on Tuesday and already took Monday off.
