sorry for the late report. i was cooked after the ride home from K.. just to add to cd's from tues...
tues: they called it 3 trails.. it was ...the crowds were heavy... we loaded at about 10:15... they thinned out slightly around 2:00 but it was congested all day... it was 2 lifts, the k1 and the glade 3 ...3 trails.. 1)great northern all the way ( there may be other names for segments of this
line but this is the no bull so lets cut the malarcky  . ) 2)
rime and 3) east glade.... GN was about 80% covered with active guns...rime was 100% guns ... glade was 1/2 guns.. top part without but was a jib park.... GN stayed smooth but bumps on top part of RIME (skiers right) down to lower part ( all bumps ) ... we honestly didn't even try the lower part of GLADE becasue it was such a blizzard but it appeared to be bumped. tuesday was exactly a barrel of fun.. i can't imagine anyone but the sickest bird finding it even worth it.. but it is skiing and it beat working.. it was the ususal K mart november... utterly freezing...they posted it as about 25 at the summit of k1... wind was not too bad...line of the day was basically an alternating GN and RIME wed.. what a difference...loaded k1 at 9:20... lunch from 1245 till 130 then hard till last glade 3 chair ... they called it 11 trails  it was three.. a little colder 10f at the summit and partly sunny all day till clouds took over about 3. same as the day before except no guns on rime t to b made quite a difference... lower 4th of GN was a blizzard so line of the day became top part of rime( still bumps on skier's right with large mounds on left ) down to the GN cross cut ... we would bail left and ski the flats down to the hard right bail out to access the glade 3 lift ... the lower part of rime was pure yellow ice w/ very inconsistent bumps ... a complete waste of time from our point of view... we found would get more done burning turns on the middle part of the GN...upper east glade still the jib park ( no guns ) lower east glade had guns blazin so again we stayed out...the crowd difference was night and day.... IMO... opening day is not worth it, if you have any discretion at all, wait.. i did not so i went, but if was really borderline as to whether if was worth it....
analysis: i really can't see how anyone but the hardest of the hard core would find any pleasure in it at all ( at least day one ) the guns blazing
made it downright dangerous in certain areas with so many novices ) i
would really emphasize to ski with caution if you are going to go in the next 5 days becasue as usual expected racer jackass factor is alive and well...so people just do not like ( can't ? ) to make turns
 ... they were calling for rain today... the base IMO was very thin in spots and decent in others.. at the end of the day they were really blowing the crap out of the bottom 40 % of GN and had fired up on bunny buster t to b... back next monday and tuesday....
