Woke up this morn' to rain in SoRo. I had planned the day to rip the mountain, but my heart was broke to wake up to rain. So we did the reasonable thing, Called up the ski shop on the access road to see if it was still rain up there or snowing. SNOW and lots of it they said! So we decided to pack up and take off to see for ourselves. Rain all the way up to Pittsfield, then it turned to sloppy heavy rain, then at the access road it turned to nice big fluffy flakes.
We took a few warm ups from K1. The main trails were great! There was plenty of sluff to push around and there wasn't even a line at K1 all day. There wasn't much for icey spots either, the snow was keeping up with the small amount of people riding that day. People must have been thinking it was rain up there, but it sure wasn't. After pushing around 2-4 inches of flakes we headed over to the North Ridge Triple for some brusing on the rails and boxes. After a few good laps, which there wasn't much brusing today, we hit the cruisers a few more times.
Even after our last run, there was still plenty of snow to cut up. Snow was finally starting to stick to the ground on the other trails they haven't blown on yet. So i'm guessing that there will be some good riding to be had over this long week if this keeps up through the week.
