late winter!!

Looks like all rain into Vermont as of right now (11:40 AM EST on Thursday, Feb. 25) and into Western Mass, but snow line is so close to me that I can almost reach out and touch the snow. Very ugly day here in Western Mass - 34 degrees and raining moderately hard. I skied yesterday morning at my local hill when it was still snowing hard here. Was ALMOST like powder skiing - there was about 6 to 9 inches of heavy wet snow on top of what they had groomed. Had to work hard to make turns in the "sierra cement" but was still fun skiing.

the catskills are all snow till saturday night when it becomes rain.
I haven't seen any indication that the Catskills will get rain. Where are you getting your information? Joe's Bed-Stuy Barbershop ("we cut heads")?

Does anyone know if it rained in vermont today? Does anyone know where it rained today?... or was it all snow?

In the northeast - the farther west the better.

Not only West, I was north east today...and it was pretty good. 84cm in the last 48 hours. YEah, it's just under 3 feet...need to go to sleeep now, TR to follow sometimes this weekend.

I'm going to the Catskills or Jiminy tomorrow (Jiminy because I'm going to meet up with my uncle). Sunday I've got to chose between K-mart or some other southern vermont or I'm thinking Gore. If Geoff has been up to Kmart I would love to hear how it is. Harv, if you're going to be in gore I would love to hear how it's skiing to.

I'm not really feeling the Catskills this weekend because I'm staying at my uncles pad which is a close drive to hit Vt. If the conditions are prohibitively poor I will go back to the catskills, but I would like a little variety.

Rob .. sorry I just saw this now. If I had been paying attention I definitely would have pointed you to Gore. I wasn't able to make it but it was definitely an excellent weekend up there. Gore is an decent mountain, but IMO it's exceptional when it is truly 100% open - trees included.

The only argument I heard was whether Friday or Saturday or Sunday was the best day of the season.

No worries, Stratton was great, so it all worked out. All the trees there were very skiable, and while I was in them there was plenty of powder albeit dense.
