Now that the big game is over , have a chance to submit a brief report. About 8 to 10 inches of new snow from the last storm that fell over the Laurentian region as well as over Montreal . With new snow in Montreal the crowds showed up looking for powder . Lucky there are places to avoid the crowds . Rode the lifts on Saturday and hiked today . 2 back to back powder days.

We were Tremblant on Friday and it was the conditions were great. The kids were in a few glades and said the snow was really good, with no ice.

Even without the massive snow like last year, there was no January thaw/freeze cycle around Ottawa this year and overall these have been about the best conditions I have seen.

Ottawa Airport is only reporting a 21cm deficit in term of snow accumulation at the end of January versus last year (202 vs 223), but much higher snowpack. \:D/ \:D/

Local powder on Wednesday night...powder found on Thursday night. Didn't go out again even if it showed all day on Friday. Trackless powder with a few faceshots on Saturday. Conditions are rrrrrreeeeaaaallll good. \:D/ \:D/ \:D/

Interesting discussion over on Zone- ski about the powder morning at Alta last Saturday ( Jan 31 ) and the crowds . Just my humble opinion but the snow in Montreal and the winter seasonal temperatures brings out the fair weather crowds. I was also frustrated with the crowds at 8.30( Still found time for First Tracks ) in the morning but on the other hand like to see the hill make some financial success. A interesting observation was that a lot of the crowd started leaving just after lunch . Guess they couldn't hack it . For all the regulars all we need is day time highs in the minus 20 to 30 C range and we can have the powder back to ourselves :)
